Design flaw.

Few options:

Keep the way installer did it. Live with it sticking out.

Order the same shape crown in the next size down so it doesn't protrude.

Do a square top molding on the lower cabinets...keep crown on hood only.

Don't do crown there. Keep crown on hood.

Order a shorter hood, if you can....and don't stagger it. Redo crown straight across.

No ideas sorry but it looks wacky for some reason.

I would suggest just keeping the molding on the oven hood only if there is no way to cut the edge of the molding so it sits flush. Not necessarily a functional issue but definitely out of place.

Personally I don't find the protursion objectional. After all with that size and profile of crown moulding it naturally fits this way.

In my opinion that particular crown overall is too large and does not go with the cabinets. The hood as well as it projects too far and just looks wonky.

For the cabinet crown, it's a very simple solution. Cut it flush so it doesn't protrude around the hood. It probably requires a return block behind the crown (think of an end cap on a gutter how it closes it off).

I can see why you don't like it---I'd rather see a mitered joint than a 90 deg. cut like that. It's definitely not pleasing, but it would at least be on both sides and symetrical. It looks like sloppy joinery. I'd try to find a solution. A shorter crown? Best of luck!

The slanted hood is eye catching, not in a good way in my opinion. Can you encase the hood so it is flat? (It wouldn't have the protruding chimney pictured)

With a crown that size, the return is correct and necessary. You've hired the right person.

Crown that does not protrude as much and add crown around the ceiling. It will look nice.

Add an upper row of cabinets to balance out that hood ab give you more storage.

How high is the ceiling? Is it vaulted? To me, cabinets that don’t go up to the ceiling look awkward and cut off. The hood protruding above them emphasizes this awkwardness.

Since the hood is slanted and won’t be flush with the cabinets, i think putting molding on it that matches the cabinets is what makes it look odd. i would remove the molding from the hood and make it smooth so the hood is distinguished from the cabinets rather than looking like a mistake.
