Adding tile to entire wall would be striking. Go for it.

Either way would work, it comes down to your personnel taste.

Agree. The tile at the bottom does not look that great. TIle the entire wall!

I would add a backsplash only to the wall where the stove is. Don't try to turn corners or bring it over to the edge of the pass-thru. It'll end up looking chopped. Too much tile will look busy and you're correct, it will detract from your space to the right.

Don't worry about other rooms. Tile will work on wall. If your contractor is telling you yes. Should listen. They do hundreds of homes. Have seen it finished.

Just put tile on wall don't wrap it.

I tend to agree with the "tile it all" proponents, in large part because the soffit above and the door casing at right provide such clear cut boundaries to the room. I don't think it will be too much tile - and the tile will complete the "unitizing" of the space that the soffit enforces anyway. Don't forget to tile the area below the countertop, left of the door. Nice white wood work around the opening is important, whether you tile this wall or not - but especially if you do.

If you are concerned about too much visual activity in the mosaic tile you've chosen... perhaps a different tile with quieter pattern and larger sizing. But I'd still tile it all.
