KARKELA CONSTRUCTION

Tom Kay is an excellent contractor at Karkela Construction. The project of 2 additions and extensive remodeling has exceeded expectations. Of Tom's many exceptional qualities, I most highly value his creativity and expertise in the planning and execution of the project. He had great suggestions on products and construction options, and he also thoroughly researched and instituted my ideas that were outside the usual. His communication with me was concise and thorough. He promptly answers calls, emails, etc. On time: I was able to move back in ahead of schedule. Tom has an uncanny ability to plan ahead and communicate schedules for me and for subcontractors so all went as expected. And he is on time for appointments. On budget: The allowances for flooring, plumbing & electrical fixtures, etc. were appropriately planned to avoid cost overruns. Remodeling existing homes tends to have unforeseen structural issues. We required 2 changes that were economically done fairly. On work quality: The subcontractors were excellent. Tom's "subs" all had long term relationships with him and they respected and complied with Tom's penchant for perfection. The ceiling contractor and the finish carpenter were exceptional. Interestingly, the references I checked before I hired Tom were unbelievably positive - and true.

Karleka did an amazing job translating the architect's vision into our beautiful home that we will treasure and live in, hopefully, for the rest of our lives. The project was finished at the end of 2009 and we still get compliments from passers by on how our house turned out. Our neighbors compliment Karkela on the beautiful work they did, for keeping such a clean site and for being so non-intrusive and respectful. I have to admit from the first day the lot next door began to change under the command of a different contractor, I would thank Karkela out loud for their experience, professionalism, their guidance and their thoughtfulness towards us and our neighbors. I honestly never realized how glaringly better Karekela was from other contractors. My husband and I treasure our home each and everyday. It's our dream home and we are so thankful to Karkela for seamlessly building and creating the home we hope to live in and create memories in for the rest of our lives.

The project went smoothly and we couldn't be more pleased. Communication during the project was excellent and all work happened on schedule . We chose several modifications as the project unfolded and appreciated excellent guidance on changes we chose to make. Tom Kay's and Karkela's attention to detail made it easy on us and the team was a pleasure to work with. We look forward to having Karkela work on our next project.
