One question about an alternate backsplash.

Thanks so much for your quick reply to my "flush" question! Do you have a recommendation for a backsplash to use when using a gas cooktop? I have slate gray floors---so I love the color you have used. I'm looking for a clean, glossy cost effective material. I am using the same ikea high gloss and also white glass cabinetry. Thanks so much for all your answers. You've help more of us more thank you probably know!

Paige - I'm curious, did you try any of the alternatives above? Any advice? I'm in the same boat as you.

I recommend using a back-painted glass backsplash. You can make it any color and it's non-pourous, easy to clean and doesn't have any grout lines. It's also very cost-effective compared to tile!

Thanks ouidub - Sounds simple enough but i know from experience how costly back-painted glass backsplash can be too. On another project of ours one company quoted us +/-$4000 for a similar area that you see in the above photo. The 'charcoal' high-gloss panels specified for the LG House was a fraction of that quote. (material alone being around $300.00(CAD)

I am using the same cabinets and same appliances. Wanted a glass backsplash to protect the wall around cooktop but nowhere else. Bought a second hand table with tempered glass top, going to spray paint the glass from behind and attach it to the wall with mirror clips. Do you think it might work?

mdhnry---sorry I didn't answer you earlier, I haven't been looking since my project was completed! thirdstone---thank you for the concrete panel suggestions. I liked the idea, but couldn't resource quickly. I found a tile that would look similar. All in all, I love the way my kitchen turned out! Thank you for the inspiration. (ps mix and match barstools were loaners from the furniture store until mine arrived!)
