The wall surfaces here are skim-coat plaster applied over a gypsum substrate between specially milled wood plaster beads, which form the reveals or shadow-gaps between the facets. This space --and the even more intricate facetted space of the stairwell in this project-- was constructed by an extraordinarily talented construction team who assembled the layers of sub-construction so that the joints between the finished facets intersect precisely.
