Do you want to stay neutral, or are you looking for a little pop?

A nice mozaik would look great. If you want it to blend right in, but with a little "zing", look at white glass with maybe some crema marfil mixed in. If you want it to pop, add a little color.

I think I would like to see the color of your floor incorporated…

A subway tile would be very nice you could also add a bit of color with a glass mosaic tile insert , and some colorful kitchen accesories. This tile could be a nice insert. Other by Quebec Tile, Stone & Countertops Ceratec Tiles & Stone

If you go subway, glass would add some shine. Or a beveled ceramic would add some texture. Just want to see something that stands out as special or different.

I agree with iamjudy, if you choose to do a subway, use an accent that brings a bit of your floor color into it. See attached. Good luck

Thanks for reccommending us iamjudy! I'd also recommend some of our other tiles. And yes Stephanie, mosaic tiles sometimes mix varying materials in one sheet like glass with slate, glass with stone etc. The last one is an example of our glass, stone and metal blends

Stephanie, if you are looking for a timeless option, hese are some ideas. This one is available from Home Depot and has some depth and texture (read - a bit more difficult to clean). Just about every manufacturer make a version of these, Olympia Tile, Pavigres, Ceragres, and there are some at Floor and Decor, as well as other tile stores. I hope this helps.

Here are some by Olympia (olympiatile.com). They have distrubutors in the USA and Canada, you just have to find one near you. They are reasonably priced and good quality. And very easy to maintain in a busy kitchen!

I completely agree with the silvery grays posted by Design By Viktoria. No need to match a wood floor (huh?) Do your subway tile in a soft gray or white - It'll look great!!!

Maguire, I like your and Viktoria's ideas of silvery gray. Does that mean a gray with coolish blue tones in it? The quartziite counters have bluish veining. Thanks again.

I really like iamjudy's idea about incorporating the colour of the floor into the backsplash. If you want to stay light, try to find a tone that matches the lightest tones in the wood. This will add a bit of visual depth to the kitchen and will help unite the floor with the kitchen. It would give the floor "a reason for being there". Just a thought.

Stephanie, you can go anywhere from a warm grey to a bluish grey - find a tone that you like best! This kitchen is all about YOU!

Looks a little bland... but if you don't like valium, you can just be in your kitchen... OR, add some bling and color.

I like your idea of adding some blue tones. Will you be adding some drawer pulls? (Just curious to know if you'd be going silver or ORB on those) Your quartzite looks white, wondering if there's a way to snap a close up of it?

I like Viktoria's three dimensional idea best. I've seen way too many mosaic backsplashes and they are starting to look dated to me. some of the horizontal glass patterns still have some appeal but the multicolor thing is old, old, old. I recently installed a stacked-look multiple depth splash with undercabinet LED lighting and the shadow lines look spectacular.
The cabinets look sort of inexpensive so I wouldn't draw attention to them with too much bling or bright colors but you can get a nice feel in the kitchen by using narrow spots of varying wattages in the track lights and creating focal points.

Or some brio mosaic..these tiles are smaller in reality.

Great suggestions. One more thing I will add for sparkle might be glass grout. It has a subtle sparkle and works quite well with more monochromatic designs where thinks like texture play a greater roll. Here is one example from Modwalls:

Back painted glass will reflect light.

I usually feel that the backspash shouldn't be the focal point in most kitchens , however I would go with a bright glass mosaic ( colors of your choice ) to I've the kitchen some pop
