We have. 13ft wide kitchen that will have a galley kitchen running length wise and an 11ft island in the centre with cabinets on either side. We are structurally required to have a support beam at one end of the island. The opposite end of the island transitions to dining room and sitting area. Should we stick with the one required beam or should we add a second beam, for aesthetics only, at the other end?
