I feel like your door is noticeable at all. i would recommend you to choose a brighter color. I recommend you to use burnished brandy. Its a really nice shade of brown. You should also change hose white chairs for something else like 2 outside chairs in irish cream color.

Definitely a plum/ brick color. I would add larger planters on either side (black) and perhaps larger light fixtures also in black. The door mat could be replaced with something longer, maybe the width of the entire door. Nice house

Hi! I love the idea of a plum door. Another idea is a dark mahogany door!

I can envision the door, side panels and posts all in black, getting bigger statement lanterns in a nice wrought iron (love the 2 in the picture above "Parkway Project") and also putting down a large mat in front of the door that is black and bright colors. Also a well made planter or two in a bright color and a nice seasonal wreath and I think that whole area would be very sophisticated...

Beautiful home! The lightness of the trim overall and the scale of the house makes the entry utterly unnoticeable. I see a deeply saturated grayish blue for the door and the accent trim all around. Creamy saturated tone. paint rather than stain for posts to dress up the appearance. Trick out the entrance with a brushed pewter tone kick plate, name plate and coordinating lighting fixtures, a large welcoming rug, an inviting bench, accent pillows, fill out with green plants.

Nothing wrong with replacing the flag pole to fly the American flag:)

I'm loving the idea of a slate blue. the brickwork has hints of the colour already. The slate blue will give the same impact as black but with a bit more of an "I meant the colours to work this way" statement rather than looking like an after thought. My next option would be a deep brown/mahogany because those colours already exist in the brick itself.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I would not have thought to look for a wider door mat or a kick plate, but those are great ideas and I will try to find them. I also like the suggestion to change the light fixtures...but that will have to be phase 2 (when I get the money to replace all 5). We still use the current flag pole for to fly the American flag, but I will look for a new one because ours is so rusty. Planters are a great suggestion too, maybe I'll find some on clearance :) Also, maybe I'll find a great bench or little chairs on clearance too.

For the paint color of the front door..it seems like plum and mahogany were popular suggestions. Using the Sherwin Williams website to try out different variations of those colors on my picture, my husband and I decided that Plum Brown is our favorite. I'm off to go buy a sample of the paint to try out...wish me luck!

These are all great suggestions. I would get some samples/ draw down cards and see how they look when you step back. Try them for the posts and the door. It can help you decide if you want to paint them the same color or a different color.I would go with a rich color that pops. Good luck:)
