I have a top loader. I will never buy an HE washer again. I don't have a mold or smell problem but the washer just doesn't fill with enough water. Nothing comes clean, and if I put one towel or one pair of jeans too many in, the top layer of clothes are still dry at the end of the cycle. And I've had a repairman come out 3 different times in 2 years. He suggested I add water myself, using buckets filled from the bathtub. He said lots of people do this.

I've never had a problem with the water level or the cleanliness of the clothes. I can say that I have noticed over the years that my water bill has decreased a lot, but I still vote for the top loader.

I will never have a top loader He again. The clothes just don't 'stir around' and move around enough. At least with a front loader you have gravity working in your favor and those clothes are gonna tumble around.

I've had a front loader HE for 5 years now and love it. I don't have any problems with mold, but I never have the door closed all the way unless it's running. After I'm done with a load, I usually keep the door all the way open until I come back to take the wash out of the dryer, then close it without sealing it. Works for me!

I have a front loader. Electrolux and I have never had mold or any problems. It reminds you to refresh and is now 4-5 years old. I have a small laundry room and it was the only brand at the time that recessed the vent of the dryer and that saved space while still being very large capacity, otherwise I would have had to stack another brand. We have friends with top loader that are HE and they to are pleased also. I can fit so much laundry I love it!!!

No problem with my front loader, except I don’t like to wash sneakers in it…too much noise.

Pour white vinegar, in every portal (detergent, bleach and fabric softener) on a warm water cycle once in awhile.
