Greys and beige work very nicely together. If you happen to have any grey clothing in the house, try placing it in the room to see the effect. This is a good starting point to give you confidence in greys and beiges. Differing tones of grey compliment the differing beiges

You can absolutely paint the walls grey; this is a very current look.

If most of your upholstery is now earth tone, one of the warmer grays - revere pewter has a warm undertone from bm, choose carefully. Bring the cherry tone into accents by using either dijon or copper or persimmon into accents, art and pillows to tie the tones together. Look for a print that includes warm, cool and one of the choices of accent tones that will help the cherry tones repeat.

I'm doing the same thing in my house. I have natural cherry cabinets and all warm colors. I've been starting to add charcoals and grays with everything I buy new and I LOVE how it works with my warm colors. My next paint color will probably be revere pewter as libradesigneye suggested for you. Go for it!
