I think you should look for a rich caramel that you can pull from the darkest color in the streaks of the tiles. It will help the tiles blend in so that you don't notice them as much. It will also make the room nice and warm and cozy.

Sorry I thought you were painting the tiles!! I would actually pick the lightest colour from the tiles for the walls if you are keeping the tiles.

White is your best friend here. Use a crisp sw dover white and nod to the tiles only when /if you have a shower curtain or linens - look for a persimmon stripe on white towels. If the rest of the room is bright and clean, the tile won't clash so much. Do consider that if you are willing to diy, new tile is not as expensive as you might think - easier than you might think too. White will get you through until you have a holiday available to tackle the big job. Aim at a white with a pink undertone.

They r awful. I would go cream paint but look into changing the tile.

Christine, To expand on (or perhaps explain?) my thinking of doing a rich caramel color - I do see the contrast of crisp white towels and shower curtain and bath mat with this wall color. Not sure if you can change out your towel bars, etc. At this time, but ORB would look striking against caramel tones.

OK .....firstly, you CAN paint the tiles, it is not cheap to do but it is cheaper than replacing the tiles themselves. Go to your hardware store ant let them know what you are painting and they will give you all of the options available to you.
Secondly, if you choose to keep the tile, paint the walls an off white but with a touch of grey in it. The reason is that gray is complimentary to yellow and will help reduce the impact of how awful the tiles are. Also add accent towel in crisp white again to detract from the yellow.
