It looks like a custom made glass top with a white base. I have custom made glass counter tops in my bathrooms and I painted the back of them white and they look just like this onel

This is an older project of ours. I looked at the notes and it shows it is a white laminate with a frosted glass overlay.

A great idea to place the frosted glass over the laminate. The frosted glass top in my master bath is the top of a vanity and a shadow is vagaley visible, but I like the effect.

Is maintenance practical? Please say 'yes, I am drooling! Thanks!

Yes, just wipe it off with a damp micro fiber cloth. I am puttling glass vanity tops in all the bathrooms in my new home and it is less expensive than granite or other stones. I found out that I really do not need to get frosted glass, I can get clear glass, less expensive and just paint on side with white paint and place that side down. Perfect. Good luck. You will love the glass.

One half inch thick. I got mine at Portland Glass in Maine, in Delaware I am getting my glass from Mr Go Glass. Most glass dealers can cut what you want and give you an estimate.

your welcome, Ann, my husband is a builder so he was able to make the template and have the holes in the correct place. Many glass companies will come to your home and measure so you get everything hole where you want it. Good luck with your project.

Yes, if you are looking at the photo I added you will notice that I have an 18 inch back splash. We had the glass cut and we glued it to the wall. Worked great.

Looks great, but if it's glass doesn't it get scratched over time, especially in a kitchen?

depends on the quality of the glass that you use for this. I didn't use glass in the kitchen, just bathrooms. I think this question is for the person with the kitchen application, but thought I would comment anyway.
