No complaints from me! I'm sure you'll get suggestions to go with gray, and it wouldn't be bad considering the FP stone. Greige would work as well, but if you want to continue the MCM theme, you might want to check and see if the major paint companies have specialty palettes that would work with your vibe.

I like your second choice...would an orange be too jarring for the first?

It's somewhat hard to tell with the white balance of my camera off, but the whole house is painted a tan-ish greige with white ceilings. I'm looking for something a little more dramatic and bold, though not too out there. My original thought was varying shades of grey and white.

You have some great pieces and they all have a natural look to me, and they call for a warm, natural color to tie them together. How about a deep tan with a touch of gold?

Love your furniture!! My only suggestions would be to not hide that beautiful fireplace and paint the walls something pulled from those pillows on the sofa -- some shade of orange.

I think you are selling yourself short. Your space is way more complete and interesting than most stuff I've seen out there. I have a few small suggestions. I think the paint color could be a tad lest bland, even if you stay in the neutral zone...I agree with Martha's suggestion. Something a little richer to contrast your seating.

Second, I think if your bookshelves had some negative space, that could work well. If you picked a particular color for a set of books (if only for the purposes of style), it would add some flair.

Your furniture is really nice! I like your idea of using greys. This would add some warmth and also compliment the furniture without overwhelming it. I suggest painting the living room and hallway the same colour. As for the dining room, a bold wallpaper in black and white would tie in the cowhide rug and make it a feature room. I find the fireplace wall is very busy. I would move the two chairs to the opposite side of the couch to show off the fireplace and put the leather chair in another room.

there's alot going on in this room but your good taste in furniture is obvious... i don't mind the color on the walls but the room lacks vibrant art pieces especially over the fireplace and sofa,,,what is the purpose of the piece across from the sofa? is the tv there? your chairs may be better there if you don't have tv watching on the agenda...i'd move the plants out and consider some built-ins under the windows to house your electronics

Thanks for the compliments. I really like the look of that B&W wallpaper, Lydia. I'd prefer to paint just because it is simpler to put up and maintain, but that pattern is giving me second thoughts. I hadn't thought about a brown either. Maybe a brown with a bit of gray mixed in would work. Do you all think that painting every room in a house the same color is in bad taste?

The wallpapers are from www.walnutwallpaper.com. There's already alot of brown with the furniture and the floors so shades of grey would be better to neutralize all the wood. Painting every room the same colour is fine as long as it's neutral so it's not overwhelming. But you can vary with different shades (of grey). For example, the guest bedroom can be that dark grey from the bedcover.

Great Looking House! I think to add a little flare to the room, I would paint a mid century orange-y paint color on the fireplace wall. I would pick up on the color of the two accent bricks of your fireplace. It can be a toned down, earthy (rust) orange, so easy on the eyes, but makes the wood in the room (and fireplace) even look better. The color should look really good with the orange fabrics of your upholstered furniture, but darker so it's a backdrop to your other things. Then, to further add interest, perhaps paint the opposite little end wall (with the window) the same color. In the niche, you could either paint the inside of that the same color, or try adding pottery- thin and taller- having the orange-y color in it. Your accent pillows look similar to the color I'm thinking off - but not quite that dark (close). You may need to add a slightly brighter accent piece against the little wall after painting, like in the golden tones, to enhance the 'pop' wanted for that area. You could also paint all three of the smaller walls and leave the niche the color it is now. Again, once adding the (lighter) items in that area will bring balance back into the room if your worried about it being too dark. The one other thing I would consider is adding floor length drapery panels, one on each side of the main window. An open weave, textured, fabric, that had a light to medium overall coloring to it, with specks of the paint and furniture-fabric orange-y color in it, and possibly some of the golden furniture-fabric color in it, would continue the mid-century feel. Very nice photos of your house!

I love your home and your mid-mod furniture. You've done a great job. My recommendation is to paint with shades of white, gray and greige.
