Do you consider the handle size based on total length or center to center. For example, my drawers are 30" meaning I would need a 10" handle, so do I go with the 7 inch Center to Center which has a total length of 10.3" or do I need to jump up to the next size?

Agree with P H Interiors. That's what I did and love the look on my transitional kitchen with shaker cabinets. Comment about finger room is very important. Comfort is essential, it's call "projection" in the specs. Don't get me started on open ended pulls.

I wonder what PH thinks, if you don't mind, about the size needed for my 2 pot drawers at 36" wide? Would you go up a size to the 16" pull or stay at 10" for that size as well?

I agree with the advice of 1/3 of the width of the drawer. I just experimented with that on my new shaker drawers. That is total dimension. But, I can't decide on the size of the vertical pulls. No one has answered that question yet.

I am looking for the same advice, but my kitchen is very contemporary. The cabinets are slab front and I have selected square bar pulls. Would you still follow the 1/3 suggestion? And yes, what about verticals? I have seen kitchens with horizontals on all the cabinetry, even upper cabinets and lower cabinets with doors.

I have slab front drawers that are 33" and am super close to using 2 x 5 inch spaced on each. I couldn't bring myself to put pulls vertically on cabinets, it looked like too much for the combination I had, and the doors had some border. I think with slab drawers you're good to add some extra visual, if that makes sense!

Of course I'll probably change my mind after the holes are drilled.

I think it's a matter of personal choice. I currently have a traditional kitchen using knobs on all drawers no matter the drawer size and 4" pulls (overall) on all cabinets even a long pantry set of doors. It looks totally normal. But we are building a new home and the style of the kitchen is contemporary. I am putting in bar pulls on all cabinets and drawers and doing the 1/3 rule for the sizing on the drawers. For the cabinets I am using the smallest pull I used on a drawer so my smallest drawer is 21" and I'm putting a 7" pull there so on all the cabinet doors I will use a 7" pull as well. Just to give it some cohesion.

What about a flat front bathroom vanity with 9 drawers? Outer drawers are 26 inches, middle drawers are 16. Should I use 8 inch pulls all the way across or use 5 inch pulls in the middle? Top pic is 5 inch interior, bottom pic is 8 inches all the way across. Thank you!

I don't think either one is wrong. But the feeling of the first pic to me is more casual/ecclectic and the feeling of the second pic is more industrial/modern. That's just what it reminds me of though.

I am building bookshelves with 3 drawers left and 3 drawers right of the fireplace. The left 3 drawers are 17.25" each and the right 3 drawers are 16.5" each. Should I use 5" pulls or 6" pulls? These are all inset with shaker door style. Thanks.

Hi sorry for jumping in on the conversation late I have a question I have varied cabinets shaker style and I am putting pulls on the drawers that vary from 15 to 30inches
then my island I only have a 15 inch trash and a 12 inch cabinet so that’s three pulls for that section can I go with a 4 1/2 inch pull just on the island on those three because of that 12 inch cabinet

Has anyone used fingertip pulls? I don't think anything else will look right on this 60" black walnut vanity. I'm thinking 5.25" pulls?

I have, but only on one cabinet. I like them very much and would have used them for all my cabinet, but they wouldn't work for some reason that I can't remember.

I used them for an executive office. The finished look was perfect. Easy to use. Did not distract from the beauty of the wood and design.

My gut told me to divide the width of the drawers by 3, and that gives the pull size. Looked it up and the 1/3 solution is a real thing. My 16” drawers are getting 5” pulls, 18” drawers will have 6” pulls and 30” drawer under built-in-oven gets a 10” pull. All purchased through Build.com (Ferguson) Miseno brand. Good sturdy pulls and knobs.

I personally do not believe in the 1/3 rule for pulls. I think sometimes that makes a kitchen look old fashioned. Not all the time but on some kitchens it does. I think that may have been an old design rule.
