Do you have enough room to put a narrow buffet along the wall with a mirror and a pair of buffet lamps?

The picture over you living room sofa is too large. I'd move that to the dinning wall and maybe use the one from there in your living room.

I like the shelves, however there is limited space behind the chairs which is why I can't have the buffet

Floating shelves can be as little as 4 inches wide so you could still use them in this area. You don't need a buffet for floating shelves to work. The art in the living room is appropriate for the size of the wall. If the other sofa is longer put that one under the art instead of the love seat.

Eventually, I will be getting a larger sofa for the area below the picture. I realize that love seat is too small

Really like the floating shelves idea ... you could do a colorful display of plates using different colors/sizes. What's really good about this idea is that you can make the display as wide and as tall you like. If you don't own that many patterns, go to the Goodwill, Marshall's/T.J. Maxx or garage sales and pick up plates at a great price.

I thought that you sofa may be larger because often a sofa and loveseat are purchased together. I just thought the art is the right size for the room.

I would hand something similar in the Dining Room. The biggest problem I see that you have is the Living room art overpowers the room. I would paint the walls a much warmer color if you are keeping the art.

How about some baskets of varying sizes?

What colors do you suggest for painting? Would it be okay to paint only the wall with the painting?

Picture to big for love seat. Change big sofa for smaller one add a potted palm between too areas on that wall. Then add another picture, contemporary like you have.

Or put a narrow table on that wall and add a big sunburst mirror over it. Love the art. Very bold nice.

Move table towards kitchen so light is more centered. May not have rm for table. But you cold still do palm and mirror.

Coffee table should be 18" from front of sofa. Add end tables with lamps to fill wall more.

The coffee table is far from the sofa because that area is large and I'm not sure how to maximize the space without placing the sofa near the wall. I feel that if I move the sofa closer to the coffee table I have dead space in the back

Try the couch under the large piece of art and the love seat centered WITH a window. Put the coffee table in front of the couch......18 inches away from it. Any end tables for the love seat and a lamp or two to use, too?
