Yes or no?

I think busy would depend on what else is going on in the room. That we can't see.

They are sheers being used as draperies. I would line them with a lightweight backing, to add a little weight. Love the grommets! Good luck

I agree with Marc. To avoid the shower curtain look they would need to be lined and are you really signed up for white drapes with that pattern? Step back and look it this more broadly than "are they too busy". We can't see any other color in the room outside the ivory chairs. If the sheers are just left on the sides to soften the window (vs being functional in nature), then your replies will be much different.

    No, the drapes are fine.

The glass changes the look of curtains. During the day pull them back.

What about putting a pair of solid panel on either side?
Tia, is there any other pattern in the room?
    No

a solid panel would help prevent the "shower curtain" look.
i would actually get a pair of non-patterned sheers and put them in the middle, with the patterned sheers between them and the solid panels on the ends.
it'll give a really full look, and when opened, it'll look like there's a patterned stripe on the panels, which is a cool look.

The rod detail is not right for the fabric. It's just not the right combination. That rod though grommet looks needs a solid tailored fabric.

It's not that it's busy. I have both white and darker brownish black striped chiffon sheers where there are differences in translucency between the stripes. In my experience, the slightly darker ones somehow look better. Perhaps sunlight makes the white ones look too unnatural and plasticky and tones down the colors of darker sheers till it's just right. You can see from Iamjudy's attached photo that the sheers with pattern aren't white but has some kind of neutral color. If I were to choose light colored sheers again, I would go with sheers that were at least ivory or other neutral color, rather than stark white.

I agree with bellesum I think a little darker might help fruit the sunlight does change the look add does the night...a little darker would help, but no not too busy!

I don't think it's too busy. I agree during the day, it would look best open. Very pretty.

They are OK. But don't cover window, part in middle and push to sides. Then take pic and post.

Let's see rest of room. Too hard to tell.

Is that a French door? Should not cover just on ends.
    Just no.

If the grommets weren't there and you would either have a rod pocket top or a pinch pleated one these curtains would look nice there ,
  • 12 years ago
I see a" shower curtain" as well. Solid panels on sides would help.
Line them with a coordinating fabric
Too busy. The darker ones would be better by themselves against the white wall but honestly, maybe you could find another place in the house to put those. I would get curtains in rich warm colors. That pattern on the curtains is common- just look at west elm, Pottery Barn, and google - there are many other color combinations that would probably fit you style.

I think the panels are fine if the walls are painted a deeper color to offset. Right now it too much bland light color. Depends what works with the rest of what you have but a deep gray, for instance would really make them pop. Best of luck!
Yes, too busy and color is boring. Honest opinion :)
Too busy and I can't get past a shower curtain either. Clearly you like the pattern so get something similar that isn't sheer.
