Please help finish this room.

I am leaning towards a large square ottoman style coffee table, an accent chair or two under the large black & white print and an area rug. The issue is I cant seem to decide on the colors for the rug, chairs, and if the ottoman should have a large or muted pattern or any pattern at all.

    You're sofas look great. Couple things: Your shelves and artwork are WAY too high.
    The shelves on the left match perfectly and set a nice modern tone but their just too high. And'd you don't want any art that is wider than the piece below it. In order to bring these down substantially, they'll need to bleed out behind the TV. To avoid that, I'd slid the TV to the right, closer to the window. Place the lower shelf just shy of the height of the TV, and space the other one the same amount of inches it is now. (that's how far off the height is now). I'd be inclined to ditch the other shelf completely if you slide the TV down. The art over the sofa should be about 6" up from the back of the sofa or so that it's eye-height. And lower the larger art on opposite wall (it's now the same height of your windows!). I would not put a couple chairs on the wall as right now it's a clean pathway into the room and I think it would be way too crowded. But I could see an accent chair on the right side of your console, over by the window wall. That will fill in the corner nicely. Also, think about a plant on a stand or best, a tree for your left corner. It will add natural color and depth in the room. I also think you'll be shocked by how pulled together the room will look once you put up drapery panels. You could purchase then off the shelf, just be sure to use at least 94-96" long panels. You could select something with a soft gray'ish taupe design with a cream or white background. Maybe with a geometric design. (Check Esty for great semi-custom selections). As for color, gray goes with a lot, but navy immediately comes to mind or even turquoise if you want something bright. Try to assess whether the gray is a cool color (undertone of blue) or a warm color (undertone of red). If it's a really warm gray, you might opt for dark chocolate brown. I'd add some white/cream in the mix to keep everything fresh. Think texture when you shop for pillows. Heavy linens, etc. Maybe a fabric covered ottoman would work with a tray on top. You could use a navy or dark chocolate microsuede, maybe with nail trim to match your contemporary look.. Best of luck

      One things that I notice right away, is that since the 3 different pillows don't coordinate really well together by themselves, mix them up a little to make it looks like the 3 different styles go together.

      Your art pieces are hung too high. If alone, then the center should be 60" above the floor. If above furniture, then 5" is all you need to leave. To better fill the space and be more welcoming to people entering the room, I would move the large sofa under the large art and lower it appropriately. Then "L" the loveseat with that, putting a rug with them that extends 1/3 of the way behind the front feet of each sofa. It should also extend 10" past the sides of them so they look well-grounded in the space. Put your accent chairs, plus a table and lamp, on the shorter wall or they will be lost and overpowered by the larger piece of art. The shelves on the TV wall should hang inside the visual footprint of the credenza (allow for them to take up 75% of the credenza's length) and the center point of the grouping should be at the 60" height from the floor. They all need to work together and not be so far from each other. You have lots of linear visuals going on in your space so think about a round ottoman/coffee table to break that up a bit. Hang stationary drapery panels either side of the windows - maybe mounted half way from the window top to the ceiling. Not sure how high your ceiling is, but you may be able to buy off the shelf ones for that height. Otherwise, if you go all the way to the ceiling, you'll have to order online.

      I know you didn't ask, but I don't really like your furniture arrangement? Is there a reason why you've placed your furniture in this arrangement?
      I think the loveseat and tv credenza should be swapped. Once that's done I would move the sofa to the wall on the right under the large picture. Then you can put your end table between the sofa/loveseat under the window. If you decide to get accent chairs I would put those where the sofa currently is.
      I would use the pillows on your loveseat as your jumping off point and choose some solid colour ones that coordinate with those. I personally don't think the cushions on your couch work at all.
      Then a nice large area (8x10 or so) and you're on your way!

      Since everything in the room is hard angles, I'd choose a coffee table/ottoman in round/oval shape. I'd remove lamps on credenza and get larger lamp placed on end table and a modern floor lamp.

      That was my first thought too, I don't like the couch blocking the way into the room. I would move it under the big picture too. The two side chairs could go where the couch is. Also, that smaller picture over the loveseat, that needs to be centered over the couch and lowered to eye level. Maybe scooch the loveseat down just a little so it isn't right on the wall edge. All the pillows work but maybe not together. I love the purple ones and if you could find an area rug w/those colors in it, it would really tie the room together. Then add some more pillows using all of the colors. Side chairs in patterns are big right now two. Also, some long panels on either side of the windows might be pretty. The lamps don't seem to work either, too small and don't make sense where they are at. You have some really pretty things, you're on the right track.

      A coordinating throw to soften sofa and coordinating lamp. Round ottoman with some texture to warm up the space.

      None of the stuff on the walls is working, picture included. Hung too high and all too small and need to be in a grouping. Little lamps on TV console are not much use. Need lamps on end tables. The city scape would look better over the sofa.

      @sylvia the furniture arrangement is this way because all the audio/visual connections are behind the credenza and the length of the credenza is longer than the wall with the loveseat as well. I had the sofa against that wall with the print, but it just looked off to my eyes and mind. The suggestion on the height of the prints and shelves is well received and will be adjusted.

      @polka girl. The TV would be replaced with a slightly larger flat panel that will be hung on the wall which is why the shelves were set so high to begin with, but that can be fixed. thanks for suggesting drapes as I hadn't considered those yet.

      Ok....if the credenza is too long for the loveseat wall I would still move the sofa to the wall on the right and move the loveseat to where the sofa currently is. I would put the sofa and loveseat in a tight "L" configuration with the end table between them and a nice large lamp on top of the table. Accent chair(s) could be placed on the wall where the loveseat currently is as the loveseat looks awkward at the edge of that wall. Good luck!! Send pics when you make changes!

      @Mercedes they are from IKEA, but I added wires and anchors to level them as they are not well engineered and tilt too far downwards without the additional support.

      Hi Alfrinze. I'm coming to this a bit late, and you've already had very interesting advice about the room layout, but I'd like to get back to the colour dilemma you posted. Firstly, I think the basics you have are beautiful; it won't take much to bring it all together. I suggest you look first for a rug you love -- be open-minded at this stage about whether you go for a patterned or plain or textured. I think buying a rug is like buying art. A very personal choice. They often are art. Just find something you love, as there's a huge range of colours and styles that would work with what you already have. (Yes, as Ems2409 suggests, purple would be great if you're inclined to that.) Once you have that in place, you will have a much better basis for deciding on the chairs, the ottoman, the cushions, the drapes. Enjoy rug hunting.
