How exciting to have something on display that belonged to a family member! This will be a unique art form & the boxing robe will be wonderful to display in your home. I love textiles on the wall. Kimono are similar to boxing robes. My friend has a kimono on a dowel on the wall, and vacuums it occasionally, but it would be more protected under plexiglass or glass. You can also use 1 inch PVC pipe instead of a dowel or bamboo poles etc. Here is a full length Kimono unprotected On the wall on a dowel you can have the front or back showing Underplexiglass On a sewing dummy Over bed
