I would paint it a glossy black and while you are at it, take the house numbers down and paint them black too so that they will stand out more...cool house!

First thing - Love your house - it is almost like mine, but mine is stucco. Paint the facia trim at the roof line an off black close to the color of your roof and the trim on the windows and the post and add some trim around the door in that color also. Then you could paint your door a dramatic color ( ben moore VINTAGE WINE is a great color in a satin finish) or a rich red . Then some mid century style lights on each of the door and get some large chrome house numbers on the vertical.Find some drama mid century door hardware in chrome.Well I think thats got it. And find an awsome large door mat maybe a striped one with the similar colors . It is also not a crime to paint brick if you want.

Mid-mod aesthetic leaned toward natural wood & earth tones. I like your trim. This is an article by a DIY who refinished a mid-mod piece of furniture. I think the furniture looks looks beautiful & might be nice on your front door. She used Minwax, 2 parts Golden Pecan & 1 part Dark Walnut. I would test first, of course. Good catch, cyberspouse, we actually bought our glass insert from crestview doors. It appears that the consistent opinion is that door should be dark, and almost all of you agree that it should be stained. I think we'll head that route, and potentially paint the house numbers a bright orange for a bit of color pop. Thanks to all of you for your opinions. They've been very helpful!

Sergio--Looks like you have a nice house, and the Neutra house numbers, both good for starters. I like Dytecture's door input, Check out Crestview Doors ( http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=mid+century+modern+doors+for+sale&qpvt=mid+century+modern+doors+for+sale&FORM=IGRE#view=detail&id=A916C98A2DAC8CC6B199BB47174EF6B06EDBED14&selectedIndex=3) Another idea is to replace the single square column with a series of steel tube columns, that could be set in a brick planter base. I would suggest using local design assistance for integrating either of my last suggestions, to make certain they will square with building codes and structural loads. Fun project.

I live in a 1950's development and so many of the houses here have that same porch columns! Very distinctive.
