I am having wainscot applied on my staircase so I can hang wallpaper worry free - no handprints or dings on the paper. MY dining room has the "fake" or budget wainscoting - the one with the chair rail, and trim forming frames below the rail - the lower wall is all painted a trim color. This is in contrast to traditional wainscot - with the raised panel etc. Can I combine both in the same home? Should I worry that using the budget application cheapens the look of the home?
