Need help with dining room/sitting room

I need help with what I should add in my dining room. Then I would like to flow the style to the sitting room that opens up to it. I
Was thinking about painting a chevron pattern the wall with the hutch and continue in it in the sitting room. I have a brown couch and chair (pictured below) that I am going to put in the room. All help/ideas are welcomed!!! (:

Maybe a different paint color, but no chevron? Add some color in additional accents.

Put a large pretty mirror over your sideboard and a large, colorful piece of art on the wall opposite it. I like your yellow vase. I wouldn't paint chevrons. If you really want them - maybe in the drapery???

find a picture/art pairing that you love and can be the color palette you want to pull from for both rooms. Put them on left. Add a nice curtain rod and panels, pulled to sides but not tied back, just hang to sides of window. Get a long centerpiece, oval-like. Set up buffet with a wine display, wine rack, 6 glasses and wine 'decor'. (if you don't like wine, something similar for entertaining ie/Keurig coffee station or the like)

I don't know what your style is, but you could do a fun, fresh room.

•A Kitchen That Works LLC, My last house had wallpaper and there was something about it that I didn't like. But I do like the idea of mirrors, I accidentally posted this twice but on the other post someone said a big nice mirror over the hutch... And I really like that idea (:
•Howellmsue- What colors do you think would look good? Also I am over the chevron idea (:
•Depd- I just love the mirror idea! (: I saw the vase at home goods and just fell in
Love with it. It actually usually is in the entry way. But I might keep it in the doing room because it could look cool I'm there (:

Depd I Like almost all of those picture you sent, besides the green vase haha.

I can certainly understand your sentiments regarding wallpaper, it is not typically my go to product but check out Vahallan.com, they have some fab options that would pair well with your wall panels.

Ok, I will defiantly Check it out (:

So here is a few mirrors I found online, what do you guys think? (: I really like the silver one with a pattern on the side. Do you think that would look good over the hutch?

Chevrons, like Moroccan trellis, is overdone and in large scale, can be pretty scary. Stay classic and simple. If you want chevrons, make them less permanent - maybe throw pillows.

decoenthusiaste- yeah after looking at some pictures of chevron on walls it looked sort of scary. The only reason I Thought of it was because I saw this
Hgtv show and it was well done and didn't look scary.

First, get rid of the vase. I like the large mirror idea and a lovely piece of art on the opposite wall. Then decide on a paint color that will give the room some flare. Since it looks pretty large I think you can go darker for a dramatic look. I vote no on the chevrons. Next purchase a lovely oriental rug to go under the table - make sure it's large enough so the chairs are still on it when pulled out to seat guests. You may want to replace the light fixture as well to add interest/warmth to the room. Of course a dimmer switch would help tone down the existing fixture. Add a beautiful table cloth and a beautiful crystal vase of flowers and you've got it!!! Remember, boring is not what we aim for period. Beautiful surroundings make us all feel better about our homes and ourselves. One more thing. If you have a nice view - open the blinds.

windyciccarello- I agree with almost everything you said, excluding the rug... I really don't like oriental rugs haha. But thanks for the help (:

Draperies in one of the new patterns would add some excitement to the room. On the buffet, maybe a glass container on one end with branches and on the other end a lamp with a shapely silhouette. Another option would be a pair of matching lamps on the buffet. Depending on your preferences, you could keep the draperies in palette of neutrals and the lamps in an ivory or white washed so that they show up on the dark buffet. If you like color, find a pattern with colors that compliment the walls and dark leather and use the predominant color for the lamps. I like a mirror or large art piece, even a pretty metal piece over a buffet. By all means, have a dimmer installed on the overhead fixture. A large beautiful bowl that compliments the drapery colors would be stunning on the table. Good luck!

I love chevron and have used it in my house but I recognize that it has been overdone and is over. Don't know if I would do it at this stage; might date your room.
