Good morning all. Sunny as of this moment in SFL but it is suppose to rain all the way until Thursday. I hope everyone is having blessed day. I am trying to pick paint for my daughters room and it is definitely not as fun as others make it seem.

Good morning Angela. I thought you had the paint color decided already? No?

Not the whole room Kimdee, just to make sure that it looks fine. LOL
  • 12 years ago
I'm sure it will, Angela. I enjoy painting. I would do if for you, if I lived closer.

I don't think it is the painting that I hate but the prepping the nail holes etc.
surely someone will soon market a Command type 3m hook that is strong and heat proof so we won't have to choose between nail holes/marred walls and blank spaces.
2 years ago i used 2 large Command hooks to hang a very large christmas wreath over the FP. the glue melted and made quite mess on the wall.

Yes, painting is a lot of work sometimes. But go slowly, take your time and it will be fine. DIA... I used 3M picture hanging strips on a lot of my artwork. I hope it doesn't damage the walls, now I'm worried!

I believe her paint is from Sherwin-Williams.

Sherwin Williams. She said the Mixed berries is from old color swatch and the gray is Sensible Hue. That is the worst part for me and that is why most of the time I do not paint.

I agree with you Angela, prepping is my least favorite part of painting; I especially dislike taping baseboards and putting up plastic. We recently bought some tension pads which expand to go from floor to ceiling so you don't have to tape to the ceiling to contain the mess in one area. Now we just need to do a paint job where I can test them out.

Buy a good brush and good roller sleeves...well worth the expense

Hubby just came in from talking to our elderly neighbor. She heard an animal in the neighbor's bushes and thinks it is dying so she wanted to put a blanket on it. That homeowner said she wouldn't let her do that. So, she complained to my hubby about the neighbor. My husband asked her what color the cat was "gray with a striped tail and dark eyes...." Did I mention she has macular degeneration and poor vision?

It's cold here today too. Snowing lightly off and on. Wow Linda, I hope she doesn't try and help that "cat"... could get messy!

KD, the problem with the 3M strips was the heat from the FP melting the glue. other places it's been fine but i've only trusted it with fairly lightweight items.

BTW, have you received a reciept, for tax purposes , for the donation to daves golf fundraiser? seems like it should have arrived by now. haven't seen him post lately but i haven't been on here much myself.

Kimdee-have you ever had jerk chicken, just got from the fest. The food was good, the place was pack. Waited in line for almost an hour for roasted corn.

'Arvo, all, freezing, wet and miserable here - not a good day to leave the doona. Angela, you are back on the painting again? I thought you were taking a break before you did dd's room.

We get some great picture hooks here, no idea who makes them but they only leave a pinhole in the wall if you move them, not enough to bother doing anything with. I am also trialling Velcro, put it on the canvas print in the ensuite and so far so good. It really holds the picture to the wall well. Not sure just how much weight it will hold to do anything else.

@kimdee24, hi, sorry to interrupt your thread and all but Genevieve is having some difficulty about an old sewing machine in "other", if you know anything about her issue and how to help.

hi roo, good to see you. meteorologist just said we'll be getting into the low 20's this week. unusual for november in ga.
has your husband fully recuperated and gone back to work?

Hi, Mo, considering we are only 2 weeks off summer our weather is crazy too. Can't believe I am in winter clothes today and thinking of putting the heaters back on.

Luckily for him BH has retired as he is a long way from recuperation. Started on some physio last week for the tendon but was in a lot of pain. Further research of his scans showed he has a stress fracture in his foot that was missed. Any treatment for that is painful for his tendon and treatment on the tendon hurts the bone so he is between a rock and hard place and is still limping around in his boot. Looks like many more weeks of treatments. I don't think he will know how to walk without his book whenever it finally comes off.

Kimdee-I cannot believe that you have never had Jerk. That trip to Jamaica is a must or I see that my trip to Canada is a must. I had been thinking of going to see my aunt for my graduation this December.
Roo-I am a glutton for punishment so the daughter room is being done for her birthday which is Nov 25th.
Roo, so sorry to hear that. has to be so tough on both of you. hugs from georgia

Thanks Mo, just as I was looking forward to 10 weeks of peace and quiet, that was the hardest part. At least it is his left foot so he can still drive. Takes himself out for coffee when he is really bored, laps up sympathy and annoys everyone at the mall and DD has said he can go back next year. He was looking at round world fares the other day so looks like a 6 months trip in the making. That is worth waiting for.

Jerk is a spicy sauce that is put on food. It goes way back in the days. African slaves living in the woods came up with it and now it is a favorite way to cook food. In Jamaica it is used on meat and then cook in a man made (drum) kind of like barbeque.

    I started a new thread.
Can't find the new thread Angela.

Thanks for the info, sounds very interesting but I doubt the peppers would like me.

It is funny how words have different meanings in different countries. Don't know if you remember many years ago Paul Hogan did a lot of advertising for Australian tourism in the US with a "throw a shrimp on the barbie" line. A new one has just come out here advertising beef. Here we call shrimp prawns - a shrimp is what is now politically correctly known as a height challenged person so the ad sends up the old ad by saying you wouldn't throw your best mate on the barbie because of his height so throw a piece of beef instead.

Anyway, I am off to bed. Night all, have a good day.
