i love the white sealing color with the dark wood but I think the wall between the counter and the cupboards could use some color, perhaps a lime green? My wife suggests either a soft gray, or soft copper color in the same area. (matched to the colors in the tile).

Could the 4"splash be removed before adding your new back splash?

I'm not a Pro, but I put a fairly neutral, warm-toned granite in my kitchen, and chose a travertine tile similar to the one above. The only problem is that the travertine is more of what I'd call a cool color - more grey than brown - and the combination bothers me every time I look at it. Just sayin'...

Nancyann, my husband made sure we had the 4" marble backsplash because we have it upstairs in our kitchen and he liked what it looked like. I just think it needs a little something.

Diva, I love your new bar! You must be overjoyed. I agree, the back splash could add that extra little pizzazz that would really bring your space to the next level. I would keep it simple, playing off of one of the lighter colors in the counter top. That will also make sure the cabinets continue to pop, versus using a heavier color that would create a "step down" look between cabinets and counter. I really like the mosaic subway tile Melanie posted. The texture combined with the light color is really nice, and dimensional, versus glass subway tile which will just be shiny like your counter top. Have fun, and good luck!
