Back splash and window covering for a family room bar/kitchenette.

We are in the process of revamping our family room. In the corner we have installed a bar/kitchenette (we plan to use it as a bar but for resale value, our basement can easily be a 1 bdrm apt). Countertops are Formica FX series Dolce Vita and cabinets are a wenge brown laminate. I have also installed a quartz bar top in goldish tones which pops the gold streaks in the Formica. I can't decide on a back splash. Was all set for white subway tiles but a friend said it looked too "kitcheny". Currently looking at stainless steel and a mosaic combo of SS and stone that ties in the greys, brown and the gold (busy?) but haven't ruled out the subway tile which is 1/3 the price of the others. My husband suggested a mirrored tile but I haven't seen any. I posted on another thread but they have white cabinets so I thought I would show my own pic! I also need advice on a covering for the window that is 57" x 45". I was thinking wood blinds to match trim? Thanks!
