This walk out tub is in an in-law suite for a limited mobility person who wanted a hand held shower only. There wasn't a need for a door but a door can be added if needed.

Thanks for your answer. We're building a new house and as a retired couple, we want to make this home as handicap accessible as possible. We are wondering if a walk in tub could double as a shower. A shower curtain seems cumbersome, but wouldn't a door mean you'd have to open the shower door plus the tub door to get in? That seems awkward also. Would love to hear if others have done this.
