What was your source for the cabinets?

I do not love all the walnut I see, but I think you walnut is absolutely beautiful. We are trying to find solid wood cabinets that won't leave us in the poor house, any recommendations??

Normally, we specify all veneered cabinet surfaces to match PREMIUM GRADE quality standards by American Woodwork Institute (AWI). Veneer on cabinet fronts should be AA or A1 grade where A is premium front and 1 is standard grade back. We also indicate the veneer to be bookmatched to have a continuous woodgrain flow. The best quality veneer is said to be provided by Oakwood Veneer Company from Troy, MI. In case of this kitchen premium grade flat cut walnut veneer was used finished with two coats of shop spray applied clear catalyzed polyurethane. Properly matching veneer requires a skilled craftsman with a lot of patience. We would be happy to recommend some woodshops or help with your project.

XYZ Plans is correct on the walnut. Your best option is the find a good example of what you like, for example walnut and send the picture in with the project. It helps the builder and the veneer company match as close to your specifications.
