I'm feeling stainless steel subway tiles.

@minimemphis : Thank you for thanking me! P.S. i like your 'bedroom' ideabook....the wall gallery at

Pull one of the lighter colours from the granite & keep it simple (ie - tiles not too small or fussy) since the granite is fairly busy.

Travertine stone subway tiles.

Large profile glass tiles

Keep it simple (one color) since your granite is busy. Either match the tile to the cabinets or pick one of the light to medium colors from the granite and use tile in that color--ceramic, glass, or stone.

I like what dclostboy suggested

Almost went with that....but decided to go quartz, because what you see is what you get. I used a small subway tile pulled color from quartz tried to keep it neutral. Pulled another color out and put that on my walls painted walls easy to change tile not.

4x8 tiles. Simple, not fussy.

If you are looking for a more traditional look in your kitchen, again as many posts have said, I would keep it simple because of the granite selected, here is an off white subway tile with a small textures trim piece added in........

I'm going to go away from what everyone else is saying and suggest a taupe glass tile. Not quite as stark a contrast as some of the lighter colors.

Thanks all for your suggestions. We are limited with the options provided by the builder. We picked a light backsplash but I am a little unsure. Though the granite is busy, the cabinets at the top and bottom are champagne. Missing some sparkle. What do you all think?

I like the idea of keeping it simple but interesting. I like the look of the small mosaic tiles. You can take a color out of your countertop and I too like the idea of keeping it on the lighter side. This would keep the space from looking too busy and give it a little flair. I do like subway tile but I have been using the now for about 10 years and enjoy seeing something a little different.

Add accent tile in color or with texture to break it up

the tiles you've pictured have the base color of the granite. i think they'll look lovely.
