I want to repaint my home office. The wainscoting, trim and windows are all currently decorator's white, and the walls are a light taupe. The windows also have plantation shutters on them. And the room is adjacent to my foyer which also has the same wainscoting and same color scheme. The room does not get a lot of light, so I want to lighten the walls to reflect more light. I was thinking of painting the walls decorator's white (saw that on Pottery Barn website), and then also thought of painting the wainscoting a darker color, such as Restoration Hardware Slate. First, will the darker wainscoting look strange next to the adjacent white wainscoting in the foyer? Second, if I paint the wainscoting darker, do I need to also paint the trim and windows (and planation shutters)? Or should I just get better lighting and paint the walls the Slate color and leave the wainscoting, trim, windows, etc. all decorator's white? Thanks so much for any suggestions.
