Thank you! We used a extra wide, reclaimed plank in this bedroom. I believe they ranged from 10" - 12". Stain was mixed to match a control sample so we do not have an exact formula. Good luck on your project!

Thanks so much for your quick response!!
I was guessing it was reclaimed as most everything we are falling in love with is!!
Was the wood oak or pine or random in species??

We have stain tested many different woods and can't come up with the look that reclaimed gives....so thinking we might revisit our agenda and consider using reclaimed.
LOVE your sharing of photos and info .... So appreciated and helpful!!

Make sure when putting up any paneling, including reclaimed/re-purposed, that if the product is not T&G, that you paint the wall behind (at least where the joints fall) a dark brown or even black. Nothing worse than having boards shrink a little and having a white or cream background screaming at you in stripes...

Thanks so much for that helpful tip.......anxious about pulling all of this together....The remodel is approximately 6K sf...and wood is being used throughout....so all shared info is most appreciated! Some will be painted and some stained....but not seeing "stripes" as the wood moves will be crucial. Thanks again!!

Our team is a group of wood technologists with, collectively, over 200 years of experience. Should you have any questions concerning wood, or stone for that matter, please feel free to contact us. You can see the extent of usage of wood in our Zakopane in the Sierras project, and of stone. The challenges in combining 500 year old Chinese reclaimed hand chiseled granite, 150 year old reclaimed oak beams, and 375 year old re-purposed teak that came from 95% Relative Humidity to be utilized in 6% country took years of planning. Then combine that with the work of over 75 wood carvers... We'd love to help.

Interesting story. We researched and found a folk artist, named Cathy Koball in Grand Meadow, Minnesota. We particularly liked Cathy's work, as she kept to the authentic lines of the individual regions/valleys of Norway and the Bauernmalerei (Bavarian Folk Painting) of southern Germany. We had Cathy do a number of small projects (basically item work), and when it came time to discuss our entry ceiling, the timing and amount of work was just too much for Cathy to travel to California to paint the ceiling in place. So we had the panels all measured/cut/numbered, and then crated them and sent them to Cathy. We left the design and colorization up to Cathy. She is a Master at this. We sent her several "inspiration" photos of Norsk and Swedish ceilings we had seen in museums and gasthauses we had collected over the years, and she came back to us with color suggestions by paint company/id #'s. She chose a traditional ROMSDAL pattern. As the ceiling was getting finished, she sent us detailed photos. My wife was skeptical and the architect was concerned. Cathy re-crated the ceiling and shipped it to the jobsite. Upon installation there was still skepticism by everyone I sent pictures to... Then upon final review in person, EVERYONE loves this part of the project. Many say it is the crowning glory of our mountain retreat. I agree.....

Cathy's prices are very reasonable, and she has now completed our kitchen cabinet doors and we will be sending her a whole series of bathroom cabinet doors in the next few weeks. Cathy's work will be highlighted in ALL future Phases of our project.
