I would love to have a sun room! Lots of windows, beautiful live plants and a table for a private lunch or meeting with a client. And a nice chaise to curl up with a good book.

A studio with glass walls on at least 2 sides and skylights!
I'd have an extension off my kitchen & dining room area where I would use it for computer work/hobbies/reading/but additional space when having our parties. The glass windows would look out over our backyard at the edge of the woods where we see lots of deer, bear, turkey's, blue herons, and squirrels.

At this time of year more than any other time, I realize how small our house is. During warm weather we can gather outdoors, but inside it starts to feel crowded with any number over 6. A living room/dining room combination separating it from the kitchen for entertaining and gathering comfortably. And if the ceilings are cathedral, a nice loft can be added as well :)

I wanted a gaming table in my own home that would represent a high level of sophistication and would be beautiful enough to display in the living and social environment in the house.

The result is the world's first patented combination table that automatically raises and lowers 3" to keep both game options at regulation height. With a background in high-end cabinetry, Rick drew on his experience as co-founder of Kitchen Expo in La Jolla, one of the world's most distinguished interior design firms.

I would have my own library. A place of solitude to enjoy reading old favourites and finding new favourites.

A cozy 4 season porch with natural wood ceiling boards, and cedar shingles on the walls with a propane stove, to take the chill off during the colder months. Beautiful windows around the room with creamy white trim and cottage style decor. Including comfortable slip-covered furniture, with warm fabrics accenting the room, woven throws draped strategically and a beautiful rich wool rug accenting the space.

If I had the space, I would organize my own art studio for painting and sewing...I would do big collages too...when I retire, I certainly will turn my office into a studio...in a few more years !

We think it's all about what your profession is, or your family too. If they're all avid readers, then definitely go for the library. If you find yourself finding a place to work--we'd say go for the studio. Good luck!

We are going to be using a small bedroom for a walk in closet and to add space to the master bath.

Not exactly a room, or perhaps a small room for the purpose of a linen closet, and cleaning products, vacuum ext. I have a laundry room downstairs but one is really badly needed upstairs.

Not so much an extra room, but a wallbed to turn a guest room into a guest/TV/craft/gift wrap/exercise room.

My sons are grown & I have my Mac desktop, printer, scanner, etc., in one bedroom & the other sons bedroom I have my sewing machine & the whole double door closet, with extra shelving, for my fabric, etc. I also have a painted Mr. & Mrs. dresser in that closet, for extra sewing essentials, plus gift wrap, ribbons, & bows.

We had a fourth bedroom attached via jack and Jill bath to a larger guest room, so decided it would be a sort of "spa room", and put my massage table in there. It will be soon joined by an armoire, my old Chinese altar table, and a planters chair. I'm also putting a small Speaker system in there for the music...

Oh dear. I'm going to say "utility room" - is that "laundry room" in the US? - and then hate myself for lacking imagination.

I'm turning our guest room into half what I call my playroom (place for sewing and crafts) and a Twin over Full Futon bunkbed for guest to sleep in. I do crafts and sew a lot more often than we have guests. It's my next project - so my husband can have his office back to himself.

We have a game room - it's surrounded by windows so bright, and we play a lot of board games so can leave them out when a good Risk battle is brewing. We love it.

a library to keep all those books in one place!

I made a project room out of one of my bedrooms. I combined my home office, knitting, beading and reading activities. I increased the shelving to hold some of my books and purchased a dresser to hold the beads and yarns in my stash. In process now and will post a picture when it's done.

One big room containing the beautiful pool in APK Designs comment, and leading into that the spa to get massages, a dressing area (for swimsuits, flip flops, robes & slippers, workout clothes and shoes). That all leads into an amazing zen-like but serious workout room with weight lifting machines and Precor exercise equipment, TV's, and one extra huge TV & area to workout to a video, mats & stretching area, lights on a dimmer, fridge with water and ice packs! Your question inspired me!

Definitely a game room so the grand kids and adults can play board games, Legos/Ninjago and puzzles etc. We also have an old arcade game I'd like to get out of the garage.

    Gym!

A closet. A real closet, at least 16x13'. Lots of HANGING space. It took me months, but I've finally organized all my clothes into complete outfits...slacks, top, jacket, & belt. In the past I've organized according to color. Not the best way. I've also organized according to fabric. Again, inadequate. Complete outfits...that's the ticket! Now, getting ready is a 30 second joy!

I'd like a large family room - about 18 x 30, which is what I had in a prior home. It's a fabulous size and we really lived in it. Our current home has a useless "family room" - it's too small for anything - and there's a sliding glass door, a bathroom door, a bedroom door, and the opening to a hallway - so where do you put the furniture?

What's going through the heads of today's architects? Doesn't functionality mean anything, or is it just create a few feet of space so the builder can say, "sure, it's got a [whichever] room!"

If I had that nice big family room, I could remodel my awkward kitchen to incorporate the current family room. Aaah! a nice room with lots of counter space and drawers. Perfect!
