They are expanding their suite of slate appliances and the fingerprint resistance is fabulous. Agree with the above comment about mixing - the slate GE fridge has stainless handles which ties other pieces in nicely.

I hate stainless. Most people don't bother to keep it looking clean, so most of the time it looks filthy and tacky. I have slate. Still popular in my neck of the woods. Looking forward to finishing out my kitchen with it. Other manufactures have their version of it - just call it a different name - i.e., black stainless, etc. I also hate matchy, matchy. make it "YOUR" personality.

I just wanted to add and update this thread regarding slate appliances. In 2014 someone posted " Slate is the harvest gold of appliances already." Here it is 2019 and my local appliance store says it is there #1 selling suite. I believe it has the appearance of a leathered stainless steel. I just made that up...but it describes it pretty well.

We're doing slate appliances in our new build. I've second-guessed myself a bunch but really like the warmer matte look (and apparently greater durability) versus the cold shiny stainless. We're having walnut cabinets and a rustic cobblestone floor and when I put them together they look great and will definitely suit our modern jungalow style better than SS. Second choice would be GE Cafe matte white.

I love to see photos when you have completed the kitchen. Wow, cobblestone floors,,,unique rustic feature. I agree, shiny stainless steel would be jarring in a warm rustic environment. We have a rustic style home as well. I had to look up what "jungalow style" is...never heard of it till now. Now I really have to see your home photos...sounds beautiful.

I have the slate. I mixed it with the black until I finish my kitchen remodel. Has anyone purchased a darker color in a stainless steel sink to match?

I also have slate appliances, including a refrigerator on perpendicular wall. I plan to replace it with a French door in SS. I agree with others - the stainless handles will tie it together.

NOW I am really confused. I am buying the slate dishwasher by GE. I will hope they keep slate till fall,when my reno continues! However I appriciated the ideas of the mixing,in case of it being discontinued!

My slate dishwasher sprayer pump just died. I can't get another part for it. So it looks like these appliances are on their way out. Too bad, it's a nice chameleon-like colour which varies according to the lighting and surrounding colours. I have had stainless steel appliances ONCE and will never again. I'm not that clean, and I refuse to nag my family and the dog. I know some of the newer finishes are fingerprint resistant, but I find the look of stainless appliances cold and monotonous.

We've had the GE Slate appliances in our kitchen for 5 years and have loved the look. HOwever, we've had terrible luck with the quality. Mid-pandemic we were without a dishwasher for 4 months and it was only 4 years old at the time. Finally found a service person to fix it, but now our refrigerator is not working. Since this is a second home we are reluctant to repair and also reluctant to replace with the same thing. Pretty sure we will go with a stainless fridge, hoping it will tie in with the handles of the rest of the appliances. Beware GE quality! Wish someone else would do the slate!

Agree with the last post. The GE slate looks good but quality very bad. Our dishwasher less than 4 years stopped working, serviceman here 5 times, GE support horrible for service tech. They changed out 4 different parts. Gave up and gonna purchase anything non GE and it will not match....

We have slate appliances and I love the look but agreeing with others about the quality. we have had the appliances for 6 years and have replaced the microwave already and the pump in our dishwasher has been replaced four times. Thankfully the last repair has made it 3 years. The stove is great but has begun to rust and peel. The lower shelf and drawers in the fridge all broke and my husband glued them back together because they were backordered when we went to buy replacements. It is sad. i hate stainless. We are redoing our kitchen now and purchasing a drawer microwave and im having to go with stainless. I really hope GE ups their game on their quality to match their beautiful color, otherwise, as our appliances need to be replaced I will have to change out for stainless.

looking for opinions on a ge platinum glass oven with slate dishwasher and slate microwave above the oven

GE Adora slate dishwasher rusted at the bottom front and does not clean after 4 years, GE over- the-stove microwave does not heat, GE slate side-by-side refrigerator has been repaired once. All appliances were purchased at the same time for a family of 2.. Love the slate finish, extremely disappointed in GE as a manufacturer. Looking to replace microwave but with the stove being slate, seems I have to purchase the same brand.

I had the GE slate appliances for 8 yrs ( well not the fridge, that shelled out after 4 years 🤦🏻‍♀️) and I would NOT purchase again. Granted i did not use some high falutin’ cleaner on my stove but i did try to keep it to non abrasive & some of the finish looks faded & worn. Replaced the micro after a few yrs so lets just say i wont buy GE again.
