I'm an avid tourist (NYC based). One thing I find myself forever enamored with when I travel to certain area overseas: Bidets. All forms: the separate bidet (my first bidet experience - at my cousin's house in Jamaica); the handheld bidet (common in Muslim countries); the fancy toilet seats of Japan. I always told myself that I will know I have ~made it~ if I ever get myself a bidet.

Piff... I have had a bidet in two of my homes. Miss having one in my little cottage.

    I love big tubs! They're the best. #iloveduckdynasty #phil'sright #gophil

Toilet that does NOT act up and that you can truly flush something down.

Heated floors AND HEATED SHOWER WALLS are going into my bath remodel. Miss having the bidet I had in the last house--was wonderful.

A new kind of surface technology, un-invented yet, perhaps new breakthroughs in materials science or nano-technology -- so that it is 100% water repellent. Which means zero cleaning to remove any moisture or hard water deposits on the shower space or tub space. So that moments after every shower or bath, the entire space is 100% dry with zero deposits, as if you have just installed it brand-new! :)

Ed... I would just LOVE that! :)

I like shaving after a hot shower but mirror fogs up. Not liking the fogging. Yes to heated toilet seat

Presets (more than one setting, too)on water temps for the shower. To have it just right.. always!.. Ahhh, bliss...

Bidet=perfect tool for the job. Huge water saver, too. Mine always gets remarks from first time visitors; the USA is so behind the curve on them.

    Ellen Schafer-decker:
Ellen, thank you! Was pretty expensive last time I've checked, but it was some years ago... Hopefully price went down since then...

Other little things I like to have in the bathroom: sounds of nature/white noise, back from the days, when kids were young and I just wanted so much to.... pee in peace, ☺️; and, I still cannot understand, why (so often!) the toilet is set right next to the bathtub. Gross, kind of, isn't it?
    Hope no sensibilities were offended

Heated floors are the best for long Minnesota winters!

    As for a reclining toilet....

I am in the throes of whole house redo because of joist issues and one bathroom issue turned into the other one needing it too (shower pan gave way, joists were gone).

I added seriously flushing toilets and got rid of the weird kink in one set of plumbing (trust me, things will go down now!) and did radiant floors and granite slab floor (these lovely huge tile like slabs) and got the shower pan back in and the tub (different bathrooms). I still have to graft in the vanities; I found these lovely 'add a grab' fixtures I need to afford
    http://www.grabcessories.com/
that if properly mounted are meant for you to grab onto for balance as well as look good.

I did put the plumbing in and tiled the alcove, I am adding a urinal corner to the master bath. He wants to miss, I want it confined. :) I rate that higher than a bidet.

Working from floor up in a bathroom is different but I'm going according to what I had to rip out first and what I can afford as I get stuff to finished. I have the drywall but some of the fixture stuff may be a while in coming....

I voted for dual shower, but what I really want is a walk in shower with multiple showerheads. Sounds yummy!
A steam shower with a bench, all done in carerra marble would be so lux! Add a heated towel bar and a thirsty fat towel would be heaven:)
A walk in large shower and a heated towel bar.
since we are building our house, all of the above would be great but the best fit for us would be the duel shower, soaking tub or heated floors...feel free to come help and anything you want;-)

heated bathroom floors are the greatest (but cheapest) luxury!

My dream bathroom would be one that is beautiful and self cleaning. Sort of like the ovens. Just close the door, press a button, and, voila, sparkly clean!
My dream bathroom has a bidet washlet//toilet, walk in shower, towel warming rack, heated floor, drawer for hair dryer with outlet in drawer to remove counter clutter. Also want a soaking tub, plenty of storage space for towels, soaps, toilet paper, various products for skin and hair care, etc. easy care surfaces on everything, with no unnecessary crevices to gather dust and dirt, a full length mirror, built-in hamper. Actually, with the exception of the soaking tub, I already have the aforementioned things. Lucky me!!!

An open shower, no doors, no curtains.

I'd love a totally self-cleaning one or a robot to clean them all! Close the door, turn on my hospital-grade germ killer and voila! Sparkling clean, and no effort.

I'd love a Jetson's flying car, too. And Rosie their Robot to vacuum for me...lol.

I believe every room in the house needs a walk-in closet and the bathroom is no exception. I want places for towels and big packs of toilet paper and Kleenex boxes and cleaning supplies and plungers and grout cleaning gadgets and so that the guests don't open my medicine cabinet and find every product I have.
