I am curious to see if any one here have used, and please could submit a picture of, Sonoma Tilemakers Bossy Gray as backsplash. My cabinets are off-white/cream shaker style (inset with no beads). and wine river is the countertop. I was thinking of a grey subway tile 2x8, and Bossy Gray seemed to be a warm gray. Gray is tricky, and I certainly don't want it to look like a bathroom... Thanks!!

With all the choices in available - There's very little chance that someone here is going to have exactly the same tile as you want in their kitchen with similar cabinets.

There's a great photo on the manufacturer's website of an installation:

Believe me: Once it's installed in your kitchen - nobody's going to mistake it for a bathroom.

Did you ever go with the bossy gray? I am thinking about it as well for my kitchen backsplash.
I actually found a very nice gray simple tile at ann sacks.

I am still thinking about the bossy gray for the moment paired with the Cambria Torquay for the countertop. What type of countertop did you use? I will have Dove White cabinetry. Just curious.

doba, did you go with the bossy gray in your kitchen? I'm also considering it and have off-white/cream colored cabinets with new vinitian gold as my countertop. Thanks!

I did and I love it! I did the 2x8 in a subway style until you get to the range. Then I did a framed out herringbone pattern. So happy with my choice. I ended up using BM "Simply White" for the cabs instead of Dove White. I don't think it would make any difference though. My countertop is Caesarstone "Frosty Carrina".

doba, would you mind posting a picture? Sounds beautiful!

I am away. May be next week before I can do that.

I am looking at the bossy gray subway tile in 3 by 9 pieces to do my kitchen backsplash. Your picture is beautiful and looks like lots of variation in color. Is that all bossy gray and does it look like lots of variation? Thank you!
Yes, it is all Bossy Gray. It's funny, but the tiles themselves are all the same. No real variation. I think the edges are faded out for lack of a better word and it is possibly the way the tiles reflect. I will take another picture tomorrow and post it for you. You are right though, the way the photo looks seems to show a lot of variation.

I just ordered the bossy gray tile. In curious to know what grout you used with yours?
    Laticrete Light Pewter #90.

that's awesome! we used bossy gray tile and the installer botched it up so they are in the process of redoing it. I can't remember the name of the grout we used but i didn't like it so i have been struggling to pick a different color. I am going to check out the light pewter. it looks nice in the picture. thank you!

we are in the process of installing Bossy Gray for our kitchen backsplash, and I'm trying to decide the grout width. Did you use 1/8th of an inch or did you go tighter? Not sure what to do given the handmade nature of the tile. Thanks so much--your kitchen is GORGEOUS!

    1/8th

what color grout are you using?
Thank you!! I'm using Custom's Antique White.

Do you happen to have a wall color recommendation with the Bossy Gray tile? I have the Bossy Gray backsplash, BM Dove White cabinets and Bianco Romano granite (primarily cream, white and gray). I'm struggling over the wall color. I'd appreciate any leads!

I used bossy gray tile with Simply White cabinets and Benjamin Moore London Fog on my walls. Very happy with this paint color and the tile.
Oh thank you! I will definitely check it out and really appreciate the recommendation!

Don't have that in Australia but if we did I would mount it behind the pot plant "Mother-in- law's - tongue".

Farrow and Ball Skimming Stone. Cornforth White works too if you want more grey.
I would love to see how all of yours turned out. Photos???
I would contact them and ask if they can mail you some samples. 3 or 4 tiles for a possible order...it's a no brainer. I'm sure they'll see the benefit of it.

You can look at photos all day long, but depending on monitor settings, things can look oh, so different.

Actually, I posted a photo of my "bossy grey" kitchen earlier in the thread. I want to see how everyone else's kitchen backsplashes turned out.

I love this! Thank you for posting. I'm in the middle of picking a tile for my kitchen and was wonderning how bossy gray would work with white. It looks beautiful! Do you have a picture of the tile up against a wall that continues on (if that makes sense). I'd like to see what kind of edge was used to finish it off.
I used their pencil liner as an edge.
I used it as my kitchen backsplash also, and it looks beautiful with white. I used the matching quarter round pieces to finish the tile off against the wall. Good luck!

lmurph - what color white cabinet did you use with the Bossy Gray? I am leaning towards BM Simply White or BM Mountain Peak White. I want a balance of contrast between the Bossy Gray tile and the cabinets. I've even considered a medium gray cabinet. Gray is trending right now; I usually am not into trends but some of the gray cabinets look beautiful with this Bossy Gray tile and the granite we selected. I generally prefer white because it is neutral, timeless. Our floors are wood which also seems to favor the white cabinetry.

Hi, we used Benjamin Moore Dove white (white dove). There's a lot of contrast, and it's a pretty combination. The trim in our house is all Simply White and that would look nice with the bossy gray tile, too. I didn't go that route because our kitchen gets a lot of sun, and I was concerned it might be too white (if that makes any sense!) Good luck!!
