I need to know what kind of flooring this is and who is the manufacture is.

I don't see why not, this is an engineered floor so it should hold up to the humidity,
You may have some issues with tracking sand from the beach.
The sand particles will easily scratch the surface as well as remove the finish.(this will happen with any wood floors,especially a dark color)
If you have direct access to the beach you may want to consider tile, it will be much more durable.

You have been so helpful Thank you. We were also thinking of Vinyl. I saw a product from the Karndean collection that was beautiful in the show room, but not sure if it looks the same once layed down in a home. Does it look like real wood or does it look cheap. Is that one of the better vinyls??

I agree with Robert. Engineered would hold up well to humidity in a coastal environment. The only concern would be sand being carried across the floor and damaging the finish.

What are your thoughts on vinyl. I saw a beautiful Karndean plank I was considering.

I would say that in our experience, porcelain tile that looks like wood ,would be the most durable material.You'll want to select a thru body colored tile. I'm sure if you went with the vinyl that there are brands that will be color fast as well as durable. I would look into commercial flooring to be sure of is long lasting quality. Remember if you are on the ocean
there is an awful lot of UV light coming into your windows. Good luck with your project.

How would you rate the Du Chateau flooring?? I picked up a few samples today and really like it but I got the impression from the store owner (who by the way makes his own brand ) thought it was a lower level product. He kept saying it was good for the price. Please give me your thoughts before I purchase it. If you know of a brand that is better for and the money is in the same ball park I would love to know.

We have used Du Chateau Flooring on 6 jobs in the last two years,
I have had no Big problems or complaints from our clients.
I will say that we generally trust the people we buy products from, if there is a problem in the first year they will take care of it.
Ask for a warranty, our work has a one year for parts and materials, and what ever the manufacturers offer.

It is not a lower level product ,by the way.. if you look at the edge you can see how much actual flooring you are getting then the under-layers for strength & stability.

I don't know where you live, but if the store is not a national chain, I can't imagine that they have a substantially better private label product,but you never know the kind of volume of flooring this store owners sells.

The jobs that the Du Chateau flooring is installed in are all fairly close to the water, have a lot of family traffic as well as pets, because the floors have a low sheen scratches and family wear are not an issue.

So I guess we would recommend Du Chateau flooring, Do you have a poured concrete base that this floor will go on? if you do you should also install a sound pad to help with the noise and the feeling of the floor.

Good Luck, There are always more expensive products, and I'm sure better,but right now for the money it's the best we've found.

Hi Laura,Fran Turner told me that they just asked the mason for an Antique look and this is the brick he gave them, so I don't think it's too exotic, but you'll need to go to a Brick & Stone yard to find this... Any way i hope you can find something you like. Regards, Robert
