Need Help deciding on a backsplash for my kitchen ASAP!!!

I like a transitional style. My kitchen cabinets are a cream color with brushed nicked hardware and the countertop on both the perimeter of cabinets and island is called White Quartzite - it is a natural stone and it is a pearlized white and very light grey background with darker grey lines for veining as well as a slight sage green undertone in the veining. I love the look of subway tiles but not sure what color or colors to focus on. I want a little pop but don't want to take away the beauty of the quartzite by doing anything too busy or bright. Any suggestions that would give me a very sleek, sophisticated clean transitional look?

Excuse the pies! This is our White Macaubus quartzite counter with "Shoreline" glass tile backsplash from Lowe's. We also chose to bring out the green rather than the grey. We did use grey grout, though.

This 2 x 12 glass subway tile in beige/green tone would be perfect but it looks like it's out of stock! grrrr

That's greige right? Is that kind of sage like? Not too sea foam green - you think do more of the greenish beiges or greeny greys than doing a light grey?

It's really a hint of green. But not sea foam green. It's more of a greenish beige instead of green grey. I'd prefer to accentuate the green of the counter, instead of the grey. You?

I was leaning more towards bringing out the green to add more warmth -the rest of my house has all warm colors and no greys- so this color would make more sense. I brought home a tufted subway tile but color looked very pistachio sea foam greeny and did absolutely nothing for my kitchen - this might be a much more appropiae shade of green. I think the green family is the way to go- but it must be the right shade of green or it won't enhance my kitchen and i want it to blend with the quartzite. Thanks so much for your input

Hey...these two would be worth getting samples. One is a light sage and the other is "surf" color which looks like ever so slight hint of green which may be perfect. I agree to go hint of green instead of gray and no sea foam! :)

White Quartz is beautiful. Subway individual tiles or a subway mosaic tiles in the same neutral color palette would look lovely (since you do not want anything too bright or busy) and consider adding decorative inserts as well. Or, you could also opt to use brushed nickel back splash tiles. Either options will give you the sleek transitional look you desire.

Would the subway tiles above match with the colors in my quartzite and what color is the square glass tile?

The images I attached where to give visual representations of my suggestions. I would source a subway or mosaic tile with grey,white,and tan colors (to match the white quartz) that has brown/dark decorative glass inserts... a neutral palette. This will allow for visual interest via texture and pattern (not color which would be too bright/busy) and give the transitional look you desire. The decorative brown glass inserts will accompany the mosaic tiles.

This is surf from modwalls.com...they have several greens, but I'd like to see blue / gray better...but just my opinion / preference coming out :) Gray porcelain dots included for something a little different. Couldn't let go without suggesting fog colored herringbone.

What about a light grey glass subway tile? I've attached a photo of a nice AlysEwards option.
The glass will give you some color without overwhelming the beautiful countertop you have chosen.

You could do a mix of something like Valley Floors has shown with an nickel accent tile, similar to what I mocked up.

I think a gray/green or a gray/blue would be very nice. The color in this second picture might be a bit to intense, but it's a nice backsplash.

Subway tiles, IMO, are being grossly overused & at some point in a few years will scream "2013!" So, unless they are consistent with the vintage of your home, select something else!

felixgrantham..what type of backsplash do you think will stand the test of time? I've had mosaic glass tiles for almost 10 years and am ready for a change. I don't think subway tiles will scream 2013 because it's been used for decades. (But subway isn't the right look for my kitchen though). I would love ideas for a backsplash that is timeless.

keepsbooks - that backsplash looks great and I really like the lighter grout to work with the base color of the quartzite. The pies look fantastic. Did you make all those?

Yes, our cabs are also a creamy white (with a glaze). I'll try to take a close up pic of the tile...it's called "shoreline" and is a greyish-green.

A pale sage green would compliment without being busy or stealing the show from your counters. Either subway or mosaic.

How about a marble subway tile like this? Your countertops are in same color family as mine, although mine is busier. I chose to accent the gray instead on green tones because I frequently change my mind! My paint color on walls is where I add color.
