OK, but the floor seems to have a lot of tan in it. How will that work?

Not sure I would do it. I would change the floor before I touched the cabinets.

I absolutely adore your kitchen. I would NOT paint the cabinets grey. I would focus on redoing the floor and walls instead. Perhaps like the following with darker or checker floors and a light blue, white or grey color for the walls.

I think painting the cabinets gray would be a forecast of *doom and gloom*. I would leave cabinets alone. I would concentrate on the lighting and the floor;)

I'm just going to repaint cabinets in white and I have the electrical already wired for undercabinet lighting but I just haven't gotten that far yet and need to shop and see what's available. The floor is in the budget

Absolutely agree. Paint the walls, replace the floor, do not touch the cabinets. The block out shades are dark or appear to be in the photos. Maybe replacing them with shutters would brighten the space.

Steve- what color are the cabinets exactly? Off white? If you paint them white then you should change the floor, too. I like the idea of a wood floor.

I'm rethinking my response. Instead of shutters (another hard surface), consider inside-mounted flat roman shades with a mix of your existing colors plus an accent. For example, white/ chartreuse / grey then add a couple of ceramic pieces on your counter top in white and chartreuse. Would freshen and lighten, I think. Good luck.

I think that once you change the floor, you may re-think painting the cabs. The yellow on the walls (IMO) are too bright & clear of a yellow. The window shades are also too opaque. Choose the floor & go from there. I might think about a driftwood grey for the floor & a more muted yellow for walls.

Keep it white. It looks perfect.

I agree with changing the wall color. White cabinets are timeless. If necessary, change the backsplash eventually. I like a soft grey or other cool color.

Agreeing with most of the posters. Changing the wall color would be best. Maybe using a bold color will help. If its in your budget to redo the floor you could do that as well.

I agree with painting the wall but not touch anything else, think about adding a kitchen island or table, a rug and bright accessories, that should do it really. The kitchen is nice!

The cabinets now are Sherwin-Williams Pro Classic satin oil base Pure White and I would go back with that. The backsplash was done just a few months ago, the floor I'll do in tile as its in the kitchen, breakfast room, bar, laundry room, and guest bath. I almost carried the Burgundy from the office into the kitchen. These rooms are the only ones in the house not SW6107 Nomadic Desert

It doesn't seem like you have a lot of natural light in your kitchen. I'm not anything like a decorating pro, but my perception has always been that gray "eats" light. My mother-in-law used a ton of gray in her master bath and in spite of halogen lighting, it always seemed dim in there to me. As the others have urged, stick with the cabinet color and change other surface colors in the room.

Since you have a lot of Nomadic Desert, one of the best neutrals, I would stick with the SW Fundamentally Neutral Palette. Go right to your paint fan & notice what line Nom. Des is on. Go right on over to Lazy Gray, Krypton, Windy Blue, & Samovar Silver etc. & see if any of those work with your backsplash. Those are the intensities of the hue that you need to work with the rest of the Nom Des, creating a better flow of color. (I noticed the NOM Des in the background of one of the pics & it really clashes with the yellow). The Pure White is PERFECT. I would also paint your celings. The Nom Des room's ceilings should be Divine White. The ceilings for the yeallow kitchen area should be the tint that's at the top of the paint strip of the color you choose. Much more pleasant outcome, IMO. And please change those shades to something fresher!!! DO NOT carry the burgundy into the kitchen!!!

I like that flooring with white cabinets. You will need some warmth in the kitchen but I don't think the yellow is it.
