I think the proper term would be "vernacular" . In other words who ever built the house was not familiar with architecture and just built what he thought looked good. I would play up the oddities of it's facade. It will never represent any true style so don't even try. Have fun with it.

It is definitively a mix of things and appears to have an addition added to the original home. I agree with Gantt's suggestion.

While I have your attention I want to point out another thing that drives me crazy. People screwing shutters onto windows for an accent. Just like drapery treatments that don't actually open or close, shutters should at least LOOK like they could close. That means the height should be the same as the inside height of the window frame and the width of each shutter should be 1/2 the width of the window. Traditionally windows the size of "picture" windows had shutters on the inside not outside. Whew, I feel better getting that off my chest. Ha Bill

Bill I hope you feel better now that you got all that out lol. Like I said in an earlier comment I never noticed that the shutters were too small, they look just like almost every other house in the south. Since it was pointed out to me I def see that they don't look good and we will be removing them soon after moving in since we are replacing the siding and will not be replacing the shutters.
