    Hi there - it does look purple in the photo, but it really is more of a deep claret. This is Astrantia major, though I have to admit I can't remember which cultivar. There are several reds - 'Moulin Rouge', 'Hadspen Blood', 'Claret'...though my favorite for performance is 'Ruby Wedding.'
