Agreed. I would go with a round, light coffee table, and possibly even a round rug. A splash of color somewhere could work – perhaps curtains in peacock or cranberry.

It depends on how much you want to change? If you are changing fabrics , than you could change the drapes to something lighter looking and if you redo the couch , something solid and also change the shape of the arms a bit . Also a new coffee table in glass and solid rug....happy new year!

Chairs and sofa,,,would be better in a large bedroom , but not altogether.
