I just wonder if I am the only person to question what the use is of all the extra decorative pillow, throws . Sure it is decorative, but it is not practical. It takes extra time in the morning and again at night before retiring. I prefer a nice color-coordinated bedspread , or a nice duvetset. My philosophie: " ...less is more" . I am interested what other Houzzers think about this. Or are all the photos,we see on Houzz just staged and is the real world simplier?

I think it is absolutely personal preference. Some people like a mix of fabrics and patterns and actually sleep with several pillows; others like lean, mean and clean minimalist. I think whatever works for the individual's preference is the right philosophy.

It is an ongoing debate....like so many others...to pillow or not to pillow. I love the way they look, but what a pain to put on and remove everyday. Just like wearing make up. I just look better with lipstick on.

Yeah, I think you need to do some "pillowing". It's not necessary to go crazy, but a bit goes a long way to make the room look nice. And, really, if you always make the bed anyway, it's only about 1-2 extra minutes morning and night.

I think you and my husband may see eye to eye.... on that. I draw a lot of fire for too many cushy pillows and throws. That is because, after we moved out of the wagon train and off the prairie, most women felt the need for "nesting" and started decorating comfortable, welcoming homes to live in. I guess it is OK to live in a storage cube with a blow up mattress if you wish.
