It may look formal but it most definitely isn't haha. We've got three hellion dogs, hand me down furniture, family heirlooms, and a bunch of DIY projects in our house. There's a big ol' tv on the opposite wall which is kind of why I want this wall to be the focal point of prettiness :). Picture uploading..

All of our books are buried deep in a box while my husband is building us some shelving upstairs..hmm.. Let me see what I got.. I have a birdcage filled with decorative balls..? A decorative elephant thing that's bronze and mirrored? Let me get some pictures..

My original point was that you needed something white on the walls to concel the thermostat and not the dark frames like you had. Look how nice the white looks. I would do your collage but in white., leave the round mirror and add the other mirrors but paint them white. Do the whole wall in white mirrors.

Now I like it. It looks much better with the 2 candlesticks on 1 side & the flowers on the other.

So how do you think a white mirrored collage being heavier on the left side would look and keep the one vase?

Out of everything that I have seen, I like the last pic with the cage balancing the vase best of all!

Again, liking that flower box so much, would it work down the middle of your coffee table???

@abbyjean, the box is about the same length of the table.. It looks really big.. My camera phone changes the proportions a lot haha. Butttttttt I don't know where my actual camera is

Clutter - t + s = cluster. I like cluster :). I went back to the collage, I'm sorry for those of you who liked the mirror. I really just need this wall to be a statement when you come in. It's the ONLY wall from the front door to put something on. The rest is the kitchen windows and door behind the dining area. I just felt like the white mirror left much to be desired for the space. I really like where this is headed though... I know it needs some tweaking but I may live with this for a couple days, weeks, ya never know with me. In 48 hours I managed to try about 8475 wall hangings :) not all pictured.

I have the thermostat covered.. Check!
I still have my collage.. Check!
I used a bigger mirror in the center.. Check!
I did an asymmetrical-ish pattern.. Check!

I may try some more simple pillows though. I just don't happen to have them in my variety of a stash :)

HI Kelsea. I like the vibe that is starting to happen here. LOVE the wall color. Collages or groupings rarely work as we hope they will. They oftentimes end up looking like what they really are: band-aid solutions because we didn't, couldn't or wouldn't spring for the real appropriate solution - a single appropriate element. One thing I really want you to keep in the forefront as you make decisions is SCALE. Most of the issues you are facing are scale based challenges. In a general way, I feel like you have too many small elements in the mix. The space would benefit greatly from using fewer, more appropriately scaled elements. ie: one large piece of art versus a collection of smaller elements, particularly on a focal wall. The round mirror: good look, but too small for the wall over the sofa... although you are maximizing it as you play with the composition. Oh. To address your first concern: MOVE the thermostat. It will always be a vexation in that spot and can be SO easily moved. "Out, damned spot", I say... Have fun!

And my phone does change the color and proportions of some of the stuff. The center mirror is as wide as the middle cushion although the picture makes it seem smaller.. So the scale is a little closer to being right, I think

I agree that the circle mirror was too small. It was a tad bigger in person but I didn't think it was enough

Kelsea-at the end of the day it is your house and only you living there knows what is best for you. I still think and agree with what most people have said is to move the thermostat or make it a part of the collage. Love the way that you are going now, well not feeling the flower on the right.

I also like how white pops against the wall maybe you could spray paint the frames all white.

I think I'm just a little more ...funky? I've thought about painting the frames but I think I rather wait and buy different white frames, if I do that. I like the finish on the mirrors so I was going to paint the room a lighter version of the color in the dining room since it's pretty open to one another and would give me more of a contrast with the mirrors. It's a warm gray color that's also in these pillows

You want to be careful so the collage does not look like a clock, with the outside ones being the numbers on it. And even though the vase is there and I love it there, you cannot just stop the collage because of it.

I am going to really throw you off here, BUT what if you change the direction of that center mirror and just give it a flip??? Then work around the outside edges???? Then the smaller mirrors might work better because they change directions with the larger one.

I want to eventually cover more of the wall with varying sizes, I just don't have any left haha. I had the mirror sideways at first but I felt like it shortened the space. I'll post more pictures once I go out and get some more larger goodies :)

About my earlier suggestion about recessing the thermostat. This seems like a good idea but i was wondering at work "Why hvac /contractors guys just don't do it ? " There has to be a reason. I would get in touch with them ask why. For example, per regulations, must a thermostat be readily seen?

Maybe some kind of screen or metal work could be used.

Our sensor is on the side of our thermostat so it couldn't be recessed into the wall without us replacing it. That's just not something we care to spend money on right now. :/

Just cover the thermostat with a frame. Give it a little box around the back so you can just open the door to see the thermostat. You have a lovely room!

A "man" placed that thermostat , there! Fill that wall up and it will not stand out as much but......it will always drive u crazy....anyway! LOL (just kidding) I have redone about 20 homes of my own and I always mark "exactly" where I want the thermostat and electrical outlets to go. If you do not do that.....then "this" is what u get. I learned the hard way ! You're almost there. Good luck. I love your colors.

Ohhhh wow!!! Can I just say I am in love??? This looks awesome. And the wall color is AWEsome! It will be fun to expand this just a little more as time goes on but this looks great. In fact, add to it if you wish, it's perfect now.

Thanks everyone! I've actually changed it quite a bit since this post. I'll post some pictures. We changed the layout entirely for something that just worked a little better for us. :) There's been some changes even since these pictures (I just grabbed this one that was on my instagram since I'm at work and haven't taken a realllllllly recent picture). The zebra pillows are gone and I put a little plant in front of the thermostat on the shelf. It's coming along and is starting to actually feel like a home. I know everyone on this website hates large TVs but it is what it is. Haha :)

I like AVS’s idea. Just add a white small frame to the left to offset the thermostat. I think your room is very pretty! Even the wall color.

*I just saw the update! PERFECT! The following comment was for the original post: Box the mirrors out in an imaginary rectangle, or move them to a smaller wall. I love the grouping but feel the wall is too big for the size of the pieces. If they were grouped in a rectangle it would give the feeling of one larger piece of art…Keep up the good work! And do what feels good for you. We don't live there lol. (I'm a hobby artist, but have many professional artists in my family so they are constantly telling me why my wall hangings are "incorrect". Slightly annoying after the 20th time,but helpful, nonetheless.)
