Mansard Roof Disaster

My family is in the process of moving and during the home search we've found a house that fits all our size/bedroom/bathroom requirements but the house has the ugliest mansard roof. Obviously it doesn't help that the mansard roof is black so we already know we'd need to tone down the colors but what could we do to soften the mansard roof?

The roof is in good shape but we wouldn't rule out replacing it

I think it would help if the roof were a lighter color...a light brown similar to the darker stone color of your foundation. This will help the house look visually taller. Paint the trim a lighter color close to the stone color. Paint the front doors and windows black or very dark brown.

Right now, with the mansard roof coming down low, I think there's too much contrast and it divides the home in half.

Another option is to darken the stone exterior so there's less contrast.

I would also invest in new landscaping and remove the shutters on the first floor windows.
