Just a suggestion, I would either raise the cabinets or add a soffit, as the oven compartment stands out. I would remove the white cabinet knobs and replace them with copper or oil-rubbed bronze. I can't tell what type of counter tops you have. i would suggest a back-splash that ties in whatever tile you are using on the floor(Not the same tiles, but similar color).

Personally I would want to keep one but not both - white cabinets OR the natural wood.

Since the cabinets are white, I think I would paint the other wood cabinets white also. That would help to unify the area. I would also consider replacing the tiles in the kitchen as the pattern on the floor is distracting. If you can't replace them maybe a large rug centrally located would help.

I don't think I would put in tile backsplash until you are finished remodeling the cabinets. Its pretty expensive to have to redo. Maybe go with white painted beadboard & pale blue walls.

Another thought, if you don't want to paint the wood is to whitewash it.

I think painting the wood cabs is a good idea, and a nice way to bring in more of a Mediterranean palette. Glaze both the new colour and the existing whites to bring them together. Changing out all the hardware for scrolled iron, painting the table set and adding new cushions will look well, too. Budget permitting, the space above the cabs gives you room to add beams for an added rustic touch.

HI -- First don't base your plans on the floors . Why do you want to keep the tile floors ? Is it because of the cost involved to replace or do you really like them. Truthfully I don't like them and I think they look dated and the pattern is just too big . If you put down a wide plank reclaimed wood floor , it would suit the cabinets better . Then you could paint the all the tall wood and around the wall ovens etc. a navy dark blue navy/black and also the base cabinets and keep the upper ones the white . Have pewter or antiqued metal cup pulls on the base cabinets and dark cast iron or oil rubbed knobs on the upper ones. Then have the butcher block counters or quartz in a soft grey/white and some antique /crazed ,off -white subway style tiles or light marble tiles for the backsplash , installed full height from counter top to bottom of the uppers . Paint the window frame the white, like the upper cabinets. Then you could have milk glass and copper as accent décor .

I'd paint all of the cabinets an antique white with a glaze to give it the traditional style you are going for. I don't mind the flooring so much. A rustic style farmhouse table and mismatched antique chairs would look very nice.

Wow, such fast responses! Thanks everyone! Sorry I wasn't clear that the picture is from the real estate listing and is it's current status. We will have a different table (probably old plank wood) and different decor. I'd like to update with paint for now until we live in it a while before making major changes.
@Lefty-I'm not super crazy about the floor either (I would LOVE wide plank floors!) but the entire downstairs is tiled that way (for passive solar) and I'm OK with it as opposed to the cost/time of re-doing everything, and think I can work with it. I'd be more open to changing the cabinets-was thinking open shelves?
@Tim-I love the idea of raising the cabinets, I'm not a fan of the shelf above (aka dust collector) and that might help to make the ceiling look a bit higher...and give more space for backsplash fun like Lefty suggested.

It's looking like sticking with some version of white is the way to go for all the cabinets, any thoughts as to the best wall color?

I am preferring the extra cabinet shade to lesson the contrast between appliances and their surround in this particular style, as well as to keep the space more informally inviting, so will show you a few choices. Notice that a number of wood colours can be mixed simultaneously - your space is large enough to pull off a few:

Something along the lines of the spanish kitchen wall colour is fairly traditional, and would look well with any colours you use elsewhere.
