You have a lovely home. Can't tell from the photo but it appears that you don't have a huge frontyard. Are you in an urban setting ? I like the ideas in the landscape below and I think you could adapt them to your landscape. An open lattice fence painted gray or black, a stone fence and columns, colorful Japanese Maple and other colorful plantings to give your landscape some color and interest .

You have a very symmetrical look for the front. I would emphasize that and create more of a welcome approach to the front door. The steps appear to be very short and not friendly. You could consider constructing a wall across the front and add boxwood hedge within the planter. The wall should incorporate the steps and be designed as a series of landing with colorful Plantings flanking the landings. The front walkway should reinforce the symmetry with Plantings lining the walk with annuals for a color splash to draw your eye to the front door. I would also consider painting the front door a bright contrasting color.
It is hard to tell what is going in with the sun but trees, even a small grove with groundcover plantings, would add a much needed ambiance to the front.

Where are you located (for plant recommendation purposes)? Which direction does the front yard face (I'm guessing west and this shot taken in the morning), and how much sun do you get?

hello. the house is in the middle of Los Angeles. It is in a historical protection zone, so modification of original stairs is generally frowned upon. The view here faces East, and get good sun most of day.
