It all boils down to personal preference, though I have seen glaze go in and out of style rather more quickly than other techniques. I glazed the first piece of furniture I ever refinished. A desk. In 1976.

But the new stuff looks nice. It used to be seen as an "antiquing" technique. Depending on the look you are going for in your industrial/brick kitchen it could work. Personally I prefer a cleaner look for modern industrial. But if you are going more retro industrial it might be the thing to do.

But really, it is a matter of taste and peoples tastes are different. In this case I do agree...its what *you* like that counts.

You are right. Thanks. In my case it's an off white with a light maple glaze. I think it just takes the edge off the stark white. I think I'll go for it.

Instead of a maple glaze you could mix an off gray brown. It will cut the white without it having a pink or yellow cast.

I have maple with a chestnut stain and chocolate glaze. It's not in your face, just a bit of a highlight. I like the glaze. I also agree that it can take the starkness off of a white cabinet.
