I wouldn't, but that may be a good question for your realtor. In the meantime, look for a wall piece and sconces that don't dwarf it. If the furnishings are rented, by chance, the same thing goes for them - scaling them to the fireplace will put its slenderness in better context.

Try turning the mirror vertical since it seems a bit overwhelming on its side. That will draw the eye up and maybe make the fireplace feel a bit taller.

Honestly, the fireplace is a little on the smaller side, but it's completely livable. If you were to add do the fireplace and add some built-in's on the side or something, the next person that tours it may think that the fireplace is too big. So, you could pour hundreds of dollars into the fireplace only to have people still not like. If you have an awesome property, a good location and it's priced properly, the right buyer would live with the fireplace knowing that they could either rip it our or do some built-ins for a few grand. Just have your realtor be ready to talk about possibilities to help paint the picture to the potential buyer of what the space could be.

I agree, the mirror is to wide for the mantle, same thing happen with my tv and mantle.

i agree that the mirror is too small. i think that the large tv and stand also dwarf the fireplace. can you move the tv out and reorient the furniture to focus on the fireplace?

the fireplace is being overwhelmed by the other big objects in the room.
try hanging the mirror, or even better, a smaller one.

I like the little fireplace. Get rid of the mirror and the huge sconces - way too overpowering. Try some other art, etc., you already have to get the proper balance - think tender - nothing harsh. I think you'll be surprised at the difference. If it's cold outside light a fire just before the house is to be shown. People will notice and appreciate the fact that there is a fireplace in the house. Good luck!

The mirror kills it. I wouldn't do a mirror there. Smaller size painting hung vertically. Maybe try turning the rug the other way as well. And the TV in the corner doesn't help. If you have to have it there ok but if not I would remove it or move it.

I think it looks better. Take a clue from the little bumbu chair, and add cushions and a coffee table centrepiece in that colour to break up the brown. You'll have to let us know of any comments next time you have a showing.

I like the last furniture arrangement you did best, except for the side table on the angle. And its too bad you don't have a taller plant for the corner. Right now it looks like it's been sent to sit in the corner because it's been naughty lol

I liked it better when the tv was in the corner. I'd suggest a small mirror (not too small) to give the illusion the FP is the right size. Here is a good one in size and price.

You should scale down the mirror above the fireplace. It is not in proportion to the fireplace and minimizes the fireplace which you should play up as a focal point.

Like the new floor plan but the TV is too large over the fire place, I like the mirror Darzy selected over the fire place. Maybe you can consider not having the TV in that room while you are selling the house?

The sconces are making it more top heavy again, I would lose them and put a smaller picture above fireplace while trying to sell it.

Remove the horizontal mirror. It is too large and out of scale causing the fireplace to look smaller. Try this. Look for a long vertical and somewhat narrow wall art. An abstract would look great. The vertical piece can go way up to elongate the fireplace. Then add tall clear glass vases on each side of the mantle. Place tall branches in each. Good luck!

I dont think your fireplace is odd, a bit small but nice and petite. It looks a bit out of place. Just need to blend it in better. I think since your fireplace is white you should draw some of that white upwards in alignment with the fireplace. Like a large vertical mirror with white frames or artwork with white in the framing or passe-partout.

The oldest saying covers this nicely: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." don't change your architecture! Sofa pillows are old and tired looking: punch the room up with new pillows in a color that pops and stuffing that doesn't slouch - there is too much "boring beige" in this room.
