That is an extra deep closet, but not enough for a walk in. One thing you could do to utilize the space better, is to have shelving, no deeper than around nine inches (you still need hanging room in front of them) put along the closets' back wall. Those shelves could hold lots of shoes (lengthwise inside clear shoe boxes), hats, purses...

And I really like the existing doors! Painting the bedroom walls, even a slightly different color, would help them to "make a statement".

Put the entry into the closet at the end, drywall over the doors, take out the divider and widen the closet as much as you can. Would that wall now make a good place to put the bed? Now you have a narrow walk in but you can now organize for double rods for shirts, etc, tall for long items, cubbies at the end for shoes, purses, etc.

thanks for ideas. The idea of drywalling is great and have thought of this before but there is not enough room for king bed and side tables as the door to the room is to the right of the closets with only 18 inches to spare.

That would be a major cost. Just depends on your budget and how much this bothers you. I store my coats in a different area of the house. You could think of doing that or putting seasonal clothes elsewhere.
