Love the dual granite colors and finishes

Hi: I have been following you on HOUZZ and it appears that you are the highly coveted stone experts. So I hope you don't mind my question from the west coast. We are building a new home with all dark walnut cabinets in the kitchen and I want white quartzite counters.....maybe Taj Mahal. I see in the picture here that you have used two different colors of granite and both honed and polished finishes. It looks beautiful. Have you every done the same color stone in a kitchen but used two different finishes? For example we are contemplating using leathered Taj Mahal on the island and polished Taj Mahal on the perimeter. Do you have any experience or suggestions with that idea? I really appreciate your help! THANK YOU

Hi Mindib...did you install Taj Mahal yet? I'm almost sure that this is our stone. I'm contemplating using leather finish for the island and polished for perimeter volunteers and backsplash. Are you happy with the way it came out?

    Polished for perimeter counters

    Hi:
I ended up choosing another quartzite called "sea pearl" and went with all polished. I liked the depth that the polished stone offered. My house is full of of all neutral browns & whites, so the sea pearl has a beautiful green/brown/beige tone that pairs well with my walnut shaker style cabinetry. I really like how it turned out. The taj mahal is gorgeous and I would love to see pictures of your project if you choose that material. Good luck!

Congrats! Your Mother of Pearl looks gorgeous. I agree that it fits perfectly with your palette. I just bought two leathered Taj Mahal slabs today hoping that they will be a good match for our Mexican saltillo tiles. I'll try to post pictures once they're installed into island, perimeter counters and backsplash.

I bet it will be beautiful. I will look forward to seeing your pictures. Since you are using Saltillo tiles I thought I would show you the stairs we did in our back courtyard. I love them!

Love those stairs! Thanks for sharing...if I had stairs I would be tempted to copy your idea. Here's a copy of the mess I have right now

It will all be worth it when you are done I am sure. Please be sure to post pics :)

The stone looks GORGEOUS! I love it! Thanks so much for sharing the finished picture. Are you happy with it?

We're super happy with our Taj Mahal. Easy to clean with just soapy water and it always looks clean. How about your mother of pearl? Are you happy with it?

I like the look of my sea pearl quartzite, but I got a polished finish instead of honed/leathered. Even though it's durable and beautiful, the sheen and light color shows finger prints, etc. So that part bums me out because I am constantly wiping it down
