Coming from Northern California myself, I know that fog and winter sunlight can make a room feel very cold. The same can be said for lots of stainless steel and grey. My recommendation would be to go away from the blues entirely. I fear that darker blue walls would over balance the medium colored cabinets and make the room top heavy. My recommendation would be to look for a medium tan/sand color that will work with your glass tile and will warm up the room. Layering neutrals is a good way to bring visual interest to a room without committing to one particular color scheme
