Hi all- this community has some great advice, and hoping I might get a few opinions on our upcoming kitchen layout. I've attached two rough drawings (they're my own ugly mockups: the colors are wrong, spacing isn't exact, fridge is not in a full cabinet, etc.). A bit of orientation: in the first pic, the opening next to the fridge leads to the living room, and the glass slider leads to the backyard. Entry is from the bottom right of the room (entryway from garage not shown).

Here's the debate: if the refrigerator is near the interior opening to the living room (as in pic #1), it cramps up the area near the stove and it'll be a bit longer walk to bring cold items to the table.
If the fridge is next to the slider (as in pic #2), 1) it cuts off a decent amount of light/view out to the yard when at the sink and sitting at the island (e.g. when at the island, almost half the slider is blocked from view) and 2) placing the fridge/dishwasher next to each other just seems odd to me, and 3) the window over the sink will need to be a smaller 2-pane vs. a larger 3-pane (not shown in my poor drawing).

I've gone back and forth repeatedly and just can't seem to make up my mind.... Thanks all!!
